Syracuse women's basketball appears to be out of the running for a 2027 four-star guard from Canada who officially visited the Hill last month.
Per social media posts, Chance Berry has named a top four of Arizona State, N.C. State, Texas Tech and West Virginia. The 5-foot-11 combo guard previously had a top eight of the Orange, N.C. State, Arizona, Arizona State, Penn State, Texas Tech, UCF and West Virginia.

Berry took an official visit to Syracuse women's basketball during the weekend that began on September 18, a source confirmed to Inside the Loud House.
The Orange staff, led by head coach Felisha Legette-Jack, first offered a scholarship to Berry on June 8, 2025. Currently, ESPN's national rankings for the 2027 class place her at No. 50 nationally. In the upcoming 2026-27 campaign, Berry will play for the DME Academy in Daytona Beach, Fla.
What is the latest with Syracuse women's basketball's recruiting efforts in 2027?
To date, the Orange has one verbal pledge in the high school senior class. In late September, 2027 point guard Josephine Pinnock verbally committed to the 'Cuse over Seton Hall, Hofstra and Stony Brook.
The 5-foot-10 Pinnock is a standout senior at Christ the King High School in Middle Village, N.Y. As a junior, she averaged 19.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game. Last season, Pinnock received New York State Catholic High School Athletic Association ("CHSAA") AAA player of the year honors.
Syracuse women's basketball coaches offered a scholarship to Pinnock in July as she unofficially visited the program. Last month, as first reported by Inside the Loud House, Pinnock took an official visit to the Orange. In early October, I spoke with a top New York-based analyst and scout, Zach Smart, about Pinnock's all-around game and skill set.
Things can ebb and flow in recruiting, but as far as I can tell, SU's main recruiting target in the 2027 cycle is five-star point guard Kaleena Smith, who is the consensus No. 1 senior. In late September, as Inside the Loud House first reported, Legette-Jack conducted an in-home visit with Smith.
The 5-foot-6 Smith, a senior at the juggernaut Ontario Christian School in Ontario, Calif., officially visited Syracuse women's basketball this past February. In the 2025-26 season, as a junior, she was the MaxPreps national player of the year and averaged 31.5 points, 6.9 assists, 4.5 steals and 3.7 rebounds per game.
