Dakari Spear, a four-star shooting guard in the 2026 class, is announcing his college decision on Monday via Instagram at 4:30 pm CST. His two finalists, per his Instagram story, are Syracuse basketball and Texas Tech out of the Big 12 Conference.

On Sunday night, national reporter Joe Tipton of On3/Rivals logged a prediction in the direction of Texas Tech for the 6-foot-4 Spear, while assigning it a 60 percent confidence rating.

That's similar to what I've been hearing lately. Spear took an official visit to the Orange in early September. He's also officially visited Texas Tech. Spear is from Texas, so his choosing the Red Raiders would not be a surprise.

Spear had a top five of Syracuse basketball, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech. He was reportedly supposed to visit Vanderbilt as well, but that trip to Nashville, Tenn., didn't occur.

Syracuse basketball will know on Monday if it has prevailed for 4-star guard Dakari Spear.

Spear, a top-70 national prospect and a top-10 shooting guard, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, is a senior at the powerhouse Dynamic Prep in Irving, Texas. He transferred there this past off-season from The Colony High School in The Colony, Texas, where he was a standout player.

Dynamic Prep advanced to the championship game of this past April's Chipotle Nationals in Fishers, Ind. In the 2025-26 campaign, Dynamic Prep is expected to be a preseason top-10 national team.

As a senior, Spear is also suiting up in the Atlanta-based professional league Overtime Elite, where he will face off with other Orange recruiting targets for a team called FaZe. The head coach of both Dynamic Prep and FaZe is former NBA star Jermaine O'Neal.

Assuming that Syracuse basketball coaches don't win out for Spear, they remain in pursuit of several other top 2026 targets. Those priority recruits include five-star point guard Deron Rippey Jr., five-star shooting guard Jordan Smith Jr. and four-star wing/power forward Asher Elson, among others.

Rippey officially visited the Orange in late September. Smith unofficially visited in September of 2024. Elson, meanwhile, took an official visit to the 'Cuse this past weekend.
