Clyde Walters, a 2027 four-star wing/small forward from Birmingham, Ala., has been on an official visit to Syracuse basketball, according to his Instagram page. The Orange, by the way, scored an impressive two-point win over No. 13 Tennessee on Tuesday night at the JMA Wireless Dome in this season's ACC/SEC Challenge.
In late September, I first reported that the 'Cuse coaching staff was evaluating the 6-foot-6 Walters as a potential re-class candidate into the 2026 cycle and wanted to get him on the Hill at some point for a visit. Now that trip to Central New York has occurred, and I'll look to get more intel soon about how Walters' visit went.
He is one of several 2027 four-star and five-star prospects who hold a scholarship offer from Syracuse basketball and might eye a re-class to the 2026 cycle. The Orange offered Walters in late June of this year, and he's one of at least 15 high school players in the 2027 class who have picked up a 'Cuse scholarship offer.
Syracuse basketball has been hosting 4-star Clyde Walters on an official visit.
Last season, Walters played for the powerhouse Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H. In the current 2025-26 season, though, he is suiting up in the Atlanta-based professional league Overtime Elite for its RWE club. Several other 2027 players who have Orange offers play in Overtime Elite, such as four-star point guard Anderson Diaz and four-star center Caleb Ourigou.
To date in 2025-26 for RWE, Walters is averaging 9.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steals per game while making 51.4 percent from the field, 41.2 percent from beyond the arc and 90.9 percent from the free-throw line.
Besides the 'Cuse, Walters' scholarship offer sheet includes schools such as Alabama, UAB, Kennesaw State, Troy, Tennessee Tech, Ole Miss and Georgia State.
When I wrote this article, the industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking, within the 2027 class, had him at No. 52 overall, No. 12 at small forward and No. 7 in Georgia. Over at the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, Walters is No. 68 nationally, No. 19 at small forward and No. 9 in Georgia.
Syracuse basketball coaches do not have a verbal pledge in either the 2027 or the 2026 class, although it's still relatively early in 2027. The Orange's 2026 cycle at the prep level will likely be small, given that nine or even 10 players on the current roster could return next season.
One of the top 2026 targets for the 'Cuse is five-star shooting guard Jordan Smith Jr., who took a second unofficial visit to Syracuse basketball in early November, as I first reported. Duke has some analyst buzz in Smith's recruitment.
