Syracuse basketball has reached out to 2028 three-star power forward Damian Mojica from New York state since the contact period opened on June 15, according to recruiting analysts. Additionally, the 6-foot-8 Mojica plans to take an unofficial visit to the Hill on Monday, I've learned.

Mojica is poised to see both his 2028 rankings and his offer sheet blow up, experts say. At the recently held Nike Elite 100 camp in St. Louis, an invite-only showcase for rising high school sophomores and juniors, Mojica earned high praise from analysts and scouts alike, including 247Sports national basketball director Eric Bossi.

In mid-June, college coaches could start initiating direct communication with 2028 prospects. Since then, the new Orange staff, led by 'Cuse first-year head coach Gerry McNamara, has made numerous offers to rising juniors, while making contact with others, such as Mojica.

Mojica has heard from a bunch of college squads, including Syracuse basketball, Stanford and Notre Dame, among others, according to a recent article from top New York-based scout and my friend Zach Smart. Mojica's scholarship offer sheet includes East Carolina, Kennesaw State, Hofstra, Oral Roberts and Arkansas-Little Rock, per recruiting services.

Mojica attends The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., which is a member of the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council ("NEPSAC"). This coming weekend is a scholastic live period where prospects play for their high school teams with college coaches in attendance.

The Masters School will compete at a NEPSAC showcase on Friday and Saturday that is being held at the Worcester Academy in Worcester, Mass. I'll be curious to see if the Orange coaching staff is on hand at this showcase to watch Mojica and other recruiting targets.

Within the 2028 cycle, Rivals has Mojica at No. 114 overall, No. 21 at power forward and No. 2 in New York. Experts say that Mojica is poised to attain four stars and move inside the top 100 nationally in his class, if not higher than that.

On the AAU circuits this spring and summer, Mojica is competing for the 16U team of the Bronx, N.Y.-based PSA Cardinals in Nike’s EYBL league. He is playing alongside 2028 five-star point guard Malik Moore, who has also heard from Syracuse basketball since the contact period opened on June 15.

In the current AAU season, Mojica is averaging 14.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game while making 61.5 percent from the field, 40.0 percent from beyond the arc and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line.

Bossi recently watched Mojica at the Nike Elite 100 camp and had this to say. "Currently unrated, Mojica was playing bigger than his 6-foot-6 size on Tuesday. A skilled player who can draw defenders out onto the perimeter, the faceup four man was also using his strong 225-pound frame and an assortment of fakes along with feel for scoring in the post to outwit defenders."
