A Syracuse basketball 2023 four-star prospect is transferring to the same prep-school program where Orange 2022 high-priority target J.J. Starling also plays, according to several media reports.

For one, Rivals.com national analyst Jamie Shaw recently tweeted that 2023 point guard Aden Holloway has elected to transfer to the La Lumiere School in La Porte, Ind., which is also the home of Central New York native and 2022 four-star point guard Starling. That will make for some kind of stellar backcourt.

The 6-foot-1 Holloway is currently a sophomore at the Covenant Day School in Matthews, N.C. Syracuse basketball was the first to offer him a scholarship, back in the summer of 2019.

His other offers to date, and Holloway’s recruiting process has a way to go, are from teams such as Virginia Tech, Texas A&M, Wake Forest and Winthrop.

The 247Sports recruiting service rates Holloway as a four-star player, No. 50 overall and No. 10 at point guard in the 2023 cycle. I’ve read a handful of comments from analysts of late that suggest Holloway is poised for a rankings jump down the road.

What’s more, Holloway suiting up for the La Lumiere School will provide him with greater exposure, and that should lead to many more offers coming his way.

Syracuse basketball will have two elite prospects playing for a big-time prep squad in Indiana.

As we noted in a recent column, the La Lumiere School is among a couple of prep-school basketball giants that have formed a super league known as the National Interscholastic Basketball Conference that will commence its operations in the 2021-22 season.

Other groups slated to participate in this new league include the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., a team that has seen multiple of its players earn ‘Cuse offers in recent months.

The 6-foot-3 Starling, a long-time Orange target in the 2022 class, is a junior at the La Lumiere School, and he previously starred at Charles W. Baker High School in Baldwinsville, N.Y.

Starling, a top-60 prospect in his cycle who has crushed things of late for the Albany City Rocks on the AAU circuit, is potentially headed toward five-star status in the 2022 class.

At the beginning of June, Starling took an official visit to Maryland out of the Big Ten Conference. The Terrapins and Syracuse basketball are among the teams prioritizing him. Orange coaches offered Starling nearly two years ago.

It will prove exciting to watch Starling and Holloway suit up together in the upcoming campaign. In late April, MaxPreps had the La Lumiere School at No. 9 nationally in its pre-season rankings for 2021-22, and the addition of Holloway could bump that rating up even higher.

Next. Syracuse Basketball: Jim Boeheim could coach until 80, and that works. dark
