Syracuse basketball was the first college team to offer stellar 2023 point guard Aden Holloway, back in the summer of 2019, and his stock in this cycle is definitely on the rise, according to analysts.

The 247Sports recruiting service recently published its updated national rankings for the top-75 players in the class of 2023, and Holloway has soared from unrated in this cycle to No. 50 nationally.

Holloway, ranked as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, also checks in as the No. 10 point guard in the 2023 class, as well as the No. 3 prospect in North Carolina.

The 6-foot-1 Holloway, a sophomore at the Covenant Day School in Matthews, N.C., has five scholarship offers at this juncture, including from the Orange, fellow Atlantic Coast Conference members Virginia Tech and Wake Forest, and Winthrop.

Given the recruiting limitations brought on by the novel coronavirus pandemic, that has potentially limited the number of offers for Holloway, but his four-star, top-50 status in the 2023 cycle certainly will aid him in receiving many more high-major offers in the future.

That ‘Cuse coaches got in early on with Holloway is an encouraging sign, however, I would expect competition for him to intensify as his recruiting process carries onward.

Syracuse basketball 2023 target Aden Holloway is an elite point guard.

Travis Branham, a national analyst for 247Sports, says that the point-guard position within the 2023 class is packed full of talented prospects, and Holloway is one of the best.

"In a piece where he discusses some of the premier point guards in the 2023 cycle, Branham writes in part about Holloway, “he is the point guard who I believe is set to make the biggest jump this spring and summer. The third North Carolina point guard on this list is about as creative and crafty as they come. He has a smooth game with outstanding ball skills, passing ability and vision. He can consistently break his man down to get to the rim where he is arguably the best finisher in the class. Not only is he an outstanding playmaker and finisher but he can also really make shots, whether it be off the dribble or off the catch from three as well as mid-range.”"

The Orange has offered scholarships to a half-dozen players in the 2023 class, all of whom are extremely talented. A few of these targets may be ranked higher than Holloway, but as analysts have said of late, his upside is tremendous.
