The premier high-school transfers for 2020-21 include Syracuse basketball commit Dior Johnson.

Dior Johnson, a five-star point guard who committed to Syracuse basketball earlier this year, is one of the top high-school transfers for the 2020-21 campaign, according to a report.

Jordan Divens, a national basketball editor for MaxPreps.com, has published an article that represents his first installment of impact transfers for 2020-21, and Johnson headlines this list.

The 6-foot-3 Johnson, a top-15 player in the 2022 class, has transferred from Mayfair High School in Lakewood, Calif., to Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va.

In his most-recent term, as a sophomore, Johnson averaged 23.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game, according to Divens.

Also appearing in the MaxPreps.com story is the 6-foot-3 Zion Cruz, a high-priority target for the Orange who has also moved to Oak Hill Academy.

Shooting guard Cruz, a top-25 prospect in the 2022 class who is rated as either four or five stars depending on the recruiting service, recently transferred to Oak Hill Academy from Hudson Catholic Regional High School in Jersey City, N.J.

Syracuse basketball commit Dior Johnson has new teammates at Oak Hill Academy who are also highly touted transfers.

Former ‘Cuse target Kennedy Chandler, an elite point guard in the 2021 class, is also included in the Divens’ piece. The 6-foot-1 Chandler, who in January revealed a group of 10 finalists that didn’t contain Syracuse, is transferring from the Briarcrest Christian School in Eads, Tenn., to Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kan.

Chandler is described as four or five stars, with the primarily recruiting Web sites slotting him in the top 20 nationally across the 2021 class.

Finally, another new colleague of Johnson and Cruz at Oak Hill Academy, MJ Rice, appears in the MaxPreps.com report. The 6-foot-5 Rice, a top-40 wing in the 2022 class who is ranked four or five stars, has left the Durham Academy in Durham, N.C., for Oak Hill Academy.

Johnson has said that he plans to bring more stellar recruits with him to Central New York. Perhaps Johnson will compete for a national title at Oak Hill Academy, then hopefully he will do the same thing, along with Cruz and others, for the Orange.
