Syracuse Football 2020 Positional Preview: Linebackers
Reserves
Juan Wallace
Out of the remaining players on the roster at this position, Wallace has the best chance to see playing time. In two years, he’s participated in 24 games primarily on special teams.
In 2019 he logged seven tackles and one pass breakup. He has more experience than the rest of this group, and that will give him an advantage. He could move his way up to the back-up spot quickly and get defensive snaps.
Ishmael Goulbourne
Like many on this list, Goulbourne trained as a defensive end in his redshirt season. But this spring he’s moving into a linebacking role. With key seniors leaving and no real incoming class at the position forces Babers to move young lineman back to fill the new defense.
Abrahim Kenneh
Kenneh is a local player who played high school ball at Nottingham. In his senior season, he tallied 68 tackles, including four sacks and three forced fumbles. The redshirt freshman will serve as a reserve this season and train in the outside linebacker spot.
Stefon Thompson
Thompson is the only true freshman among the bunch and rounds out the young corps. He might redshirt this season and learn under the other players. Thompson was ranked No. 47 inside linebacker by 247sports.com in his class. He might not get time this year but look for him in the future.
