Syracuse basketball continues to discover new lows from the perimeter this season. Here’s how bad the Orange have been from deep in 2019-20.

Syracuse basketball only has six games remaining in the regular season and they’re on the outside looking in as it pertains to the NCAA Tournament.

This has left many Orange fans wondering what has gone wrong this season?

One of the big things that have gone sideways as of late is the team’s three-point shooting. Just how bad has it been?

Here’s a glance at the majority of conference play and how the Orange have performed from deep:

  • Vs Virginia Tech: 6-of-17.
  • At vs Virginia: 12-of-29.
  • At Virginia Tech: 6-of-24.
  • At Notre Dame: 8-of-26.
  • Vs Pittsburgh: 5-of-21.
  • At Clemson: 8-of-27.
  • Vs Duke: 6-of-26.
  • Vs Wake Forest: 7-of-21.
  • Vs NC State: 3-of-18.
  • At Florida State: 7-of-25.

That’s a combined 68-of-234 shooting from deep. In other words, the team has shot 29 percent combined from deep. That would rank dead last in the ACC (out of 15 teams in the conference).

Despite those atrocious numbers in those 10 games, Syracuse still somehow went 5-5.

Although if the Orange has any hopes of salvaging this season they’ll have to turn those perimeter numbers around. While Syracuse has found ways to win games, that strategy simply isn’t sustainable.

The good news is the Orange has plenty of viable options that can step up to the plate: Elijah Hughes, Buddy Boeheim, and Joe Girard III are the top three-point shooters (in terms of percentages so far this season).

Here’s a look at what’s coming up for the Syracuse basketball team: at Louisville, vs Georgia Tech, at Pittsburgh, vs North Carolina, at Boston College, and finally at Miami.

Outside of the road trip vs the Cardinals on Wednesday night, the Orange are favored in every remaining game on the schedule per the ESPN BPI Analytics. Are you saying there’s a chance?
