Round of 64

  • No. 8 seed Syracuse vs No. 9 seed Baylor

To start things off for the Orange they’ll be playing the Baylor Bears of the Big 12 at 9:57 p.m. West Region: 9-Baylor vs. 8-Syracuse (truTV), per Syracuse.com. Baylor went 19-13 this season and finished 10-8 in the conference.

Although the Bears ended the season on a four-game slide so they’ll be entering the dance on a bit of a cold spell. Those four losses were by a combined 34 points.

Baylor is led by four double-digit scorers although one of them is out for the season. Tristan Clark was the No. 2 scorer for the Bears and had surgery on his left knee back in January. One of the guys who has picked up the slack is a familiar name: Makai Mason.

Yes, that’s the former Yale star who had a magical tournament run a couple of years ago. Now he’s the lead star on Baylor averaging 14.6 points per game. Syracuse will have to keep a close eye on him if they want to move on.
