Syracuse football coaches have landed two verbal commitments from 2027 offensive linemen this week.
First, it was three-star Connor Long. The beefy 6-foot-8, 343-pound Long attends Old Bridge High School in Matawan, N.J. A day later, it was Marcus Small who decided to verbally pledge to the 'Cuse.
The 6-foot-7, 293-pound Small, who visited the Orange last Saturday for the team's home game against Pittsburgh on Homecoming, goes to First Coast High School in Jacksonville, Fla. By the way, both Florida and New Jersey are key recruiting states for the Syracuse football staff.
I’m blessed to announce my commitment to Syracuse University! Huge thank you to my coaches! @Coach_J_Parker, @FranBrownCuse, @drwilliams131 and @Coach_2CAP @CuseFootball for the opportunity. Excited for what’s ahead! #Committed #GoOrange🍊 #darts pic.twitter.com/MKrInop39r

In June of this year, Small attended a Syracuse football prospect camp, around which time he landed a scholarship offer from the Orange. His other offers, per the 247Sports Web site, are from Alabama State and Bethune-Cookman.

Syracuse football is rolling with its 2027 class.
While the high school junior cycle has a way to go, the Orange already has eight verbal commits. The team's 2027 class is No. 3 overall via the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and No. 14 nationally per the industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking.
Also, on the 247Sports Web site, the 'Cuse and Sacramento State are tied with the most verbal pledges in 2027, at eight each. Syracuse football coaches are heavily involved with many other high school juniors, including flip targets, four-star prospects and five-star players. Some of these targets have recently visited the Orange or will in the coming weeks.
Currently, Small is unranked, but that could certainly change. Athlete Tristin Hughes of Rocky River High School in Rocky River, Ohio, recently moved to four-star status and jumped into the top 300 nationally, according to Rivals. The other six 2027 pledges are ranked three stars, at least for now.
Here is the full Syracuse football 2027 class:
Three-star offensive lineman Connor Long of Old Bridge High School in Matawan, N.J.
Three-star athlete Davion Crumitie of Rickards High School in Tallahassee, Fla.
Three-star quarterback Justin Dixon of the Concordia Preparatory School in Towson, Md.
Four-star athlete Tristin Hughes of Rocky River High School in Rocky River, Ohio
Three-star defensive back Travis Miles of Hillside High School in Hillside, N.J.
Three-star defensive lineman Stanley Montgomery of Archbishop Ryan High School in Philadelphia
Three-star athlete Tank White of Cocoa High School in Cocoa, Fla.
Offensive lineman Marcus Small of First Coast High School in Jacksonville, Fla.
