Francis Folefac, the Siena freshman, said on Monday that he will transfer to Syracuse basketball, a development that had been rumored likely to happen for a while and is now official.

With Folefac, the DMV product who had an excellent 2025-26 season for the Saints, on board, the Orange possesses what I consider to be a dynamic and exciting duo at forward for the upcoming 2026-27 campaign, under first-year head coach Gerry McNamara and his new staff.

Folefac joins 'Cuse freshman Sadiq White Jr. at the forward spot for SU in the upcoming term. They're both rising sophomores with loads of potential. It's possible that we could see Folefac at small forward or power forward. Perhaps that will be the case with White, too.

What I find intriguing is how Folefac, a three-star transfer prospect, and White, a four-star, top-30 national prospect in the 2025 prep class, appear to complement each other. The 6-foot-7, 245-pound Folefac is more of a bruising, physical prospect who did well on the offensive end as a freshman, while the 6-foot-9, 195-pound White is more slender, but he is also ultra-athletic and gets after it defensively.

Syracuse basketball boasts an enticing pair at forward for next season.

At Siena in the 2025-26 stanza, Folefac averaged 11.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 blocks per game while connecting on 51.5 percent from the field, 37.5 percent from beyond the arc and 74.0 percent from the free-throw line.

He was a unanimous selection for the 2025-26 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference ("MAAC") All-Rookie team. In No. 16 seed Siena's heartbreaking NCAA Tournament loss to No. 1 seed Duke during the 2026 NCAA Tournament, Folefac went 7-of-16 field, finishing with 18 points and seven rebounds.

White, the Charlotte, N.C., native, showed flashes of promise as a freshman on the Hill. He averaged 15.1 minutes, 6.1 points and 3.3 rebounds per game while making 54.7 percent from the field, 36.8 percent from downtown and 51.3 percent from the charity stripe.

In the 2025 high school class, White was one of the top defenders around the country. His instincts on that end of the floor are stellar. White is also a high-energy player who hustles after every loose ball. He plays well above the rim, but White needs to work on his all-around offensive game (including his free-throw shooting).

From the Orange's 2025-26 roster, among SU's main rotational players, White and freshman guard/wing Kiyan Anthony are returning for 2026-27. Both will contend for significant minutes. If I had to venture a guess, I'd project that White will start at power forward, Anthony will come off the bench and Folefac will be a primary reserve in Syracuse basketball's solid-looking front-court.
