Transfer forward Francis Folefac, a freshman at Siena who visited Syracuse basketball not too long ago, has committed to the Orange, according to his Instagram page.
The 6-foot-7, 245-pound Folefac, a strong, bruising player from the talent-rich DMV, caught the nation's attention when No. 16 seed Siena nearly knocked off No. 1 seed Duke in the 2026 NCAA Tournament's first round. The Blue Devils prevailed, 71-65, over the Saints last month, although Folefac was great, tallying 18 points and seven rebounds.
In the 2025-26 season, Syracuse basketball went just 15-17 overall. SU parted ways with head coach Adrian Autry last month, replacing him with another former Orange standout player, Gerry McNamara.
Over the past two terms, McNamara had done a wonderful job turning around the Siena program as the Saints' head coach. Several of his assistant coaches and former players at Siena have followed McNamara to the Hill.
Francis Folefac provides additional depth in the Syracuse basketball front-court.
As a freshman at Siena, Folefac averaged 28.1 minutes, 11.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 blocks per game while connecting on 51.5 percent from the field, 37.5 percent from beyond the arc and 74.0 percent from the free-throw line. He was an unanimous pick for the 2025-26 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference ("MAAC") All-Rookie team.
Folefac, who recently visited the 'Cuse and fellow Atlantic Coast Conference school Georgia Tech, per 247Sports national analyst Dushawn London, joined Siena after playing for Mt. Zion Prep in Lanham, Md., which was a nationally ranked squad in Folefac's senior campaign. He also competed for the Baltimore-based Team Melo in Nike's EYBL league.
Here is the Syracuse basketball 2026-27 roster, as it currently stands:
•Ryan Moesch, a 2026 four-star point guard from Central New York
•Mark Morano Mahmutovic, a 2026 four-star wing from Slovenia
•Abdramane Siby, a 2026 center from Mali
•Freshman guard Kiyan Anthony
•Freshman forward Sadiq White Jr.
•Freshman wing Calvin Russell III
•Sophomore guard Noah Lobdell
•Sophomore guard Aiden Tobiason, a four-star transfer from Temple
•Junior guard Garwey Dual, a four-star transfer from McNeese State
•Sophomore guard Gavin Doty, a four-star transfer from Siena
•Junior power forward/center Tasman Goodrick, a three-star transfer from Siena
•Redshirt sophomore center Luke Wilson, a four-star transfer from Appalachian State
•Freshman forward Francis Folefac, a transfer from Siena
White will likely start at power forward, but Folefac will contend for minutes in the Orange's front-court. SU has 13 players for its 2026-27 roster, with two scholarships left.
