Virginia Tech transfer cornerback Dante Lovett Jr., who hails from the talent-rich DMV, is visiting Syracuse football on Monday, according to a post on X from On3's Pete Nakos.
The 6-foot, 200-pound Lovett, a junior, entered the transfer portal in mid-September amid the Hokies firing head coach Brent Pry. Earlier this month, Virginia Tech hired former Penn State and Vanderbilt boss James Franklin as the Hokies' new head coach.

He has appeared in just two games this season, compiling three solo tackles, three assisted tackles and six total tackles.
Syracuse football is getting a visit on Monday from Virginia Tech transfer CB Dante Lovett Jr.
Lovett was a three-star prospect in the 2023 class out of the famed DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Md., which is part of the Washington, D.C., market - a key recruiting focus for the Orange coaching staff.
Within the 2023 cycle, Lovett was a three-star player, No. 880 overall, No. 73 at safety and No. 15 in Maryland, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. Over at the industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking, he was No. 902 overall, No. 89 at cornerback and No. 15 in Maryland.
The next transfer portal window will run from January 2 to January 16 of 2026, although Lovett was able to hit the portal this past September due to the head-coaching change at Virginia Tech. Following the de-commitment of three pledges on Sunday, the Orange has 27 verbal pledges in its 2026 class, with the early signing period arriving in early December.
It's possible that Syracuse football coaches want to free up some scholarships for players who will enter the portal from other schools and might be a strong fit at the 'Cuse. In the secondary, current Orange cornerbacks include freshman Demetres Samuel Jr., redshirt sophomore Chris Peal and sophomore Davien Kerr.
Samuel has already said that he will be back with the program in 2026. He's trending as a possible freshman All-American at the conclusion of the 2025 campaign.
