Top analyst details scoring prowess of Syracuse basketball 4-star recruit Abdou Toure
By Neil Adler
Abdou Toure, who received a scholarship offer from Syracuse basketball over the summer, has made massive leaps of late in ranking updates for the 2026 class by multiple recruiting services.
The 6-foot-5 Toure, a four-star shooting guard/small forward from Connecticut, picked up his offer from the Orange staff in late July of this year. The talented wing is a standout junior at Notre Dame High School in West Haven, Conn.
When On3 updated its 2026 national rankings, Toure went from No. 127 to No. 13 overall. In the most recent refresh from 247Sports, he jumped from No. 92 to No. 31 nationwide. Over at Rivals.com, Toure climbed from unranked by that recruiting service to No. 29 nationally.
In a recent article, top national analyst/scout Jamie Shaw of On3 published an in-depth evaluation of Toure, who in the 2023-24 season as a sophomore at Notre Dame was named the player of the year in Connecticut by MaxPreps after averaging 21.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.0 steals and 2.0 blocks per contest.
According to recruiting services and his X page, Toure's full offer sheet includes schools such as Stanford, Pittsburgh, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Louisville, Penn State, Oregon, Alabama, UCF, Arizona State, Providence, Rutgers, Sacred Heart, Yale and Bryant.
What a top expert says about 2026 four-star wing Abdou Toure, a Syracuse basketball recruit.
Shaw writes in part that regarding Toure, "There is a confidence within his game and a certain gusto with which he performs. While he is explosive, he also understands pace. .... While he is often his team’s leading scorer, Toure does not force the issue. He moves the ball when necessary and rarely do any of his shots come off more than two or three dribbles. Some of this might have to do with the fact that he needs to continue developing his handle, being able to put the ball on the floor and break down a defender to create separation. However, he has an excellent understanding of space and a developing awareness of his most effective spots on the floor."
Shaw closes by saying about this Orange target, "And yes, growth is still needed in his game, and tightening will have to be done overall, with that said, the value of Toure's long-term prospects comes with his natural feel for simply getting buckets."
This spring and summer on the AAU circuit, Toure played well for the 16U team of the Boston-based Expressions Elite in Nike's EYBL league. This past August, he earned praise from analysts and scouts for his performance at the Under Armour Next Elite 24, a showcase held in Brooklyn, N.Y., that aired on ESPNU.
At this juncture, I'm aware of at least 11 juniors who have secured scholarship offers from the 'Cuse coaching staff, including Toure.
