Syracuse women's basketball opens its 2026-27 season on Tuesday night against non-conference foe Sacred Heart at the JMA Wireless Dome. The game is scheduled to tip off at 6:00 pm EST on November 3, with live-streaming coverage on the ACC Network Extra.

The teams have met just once previously. On November 27, 2005, Sacred Heart defeated the Orange by a final score of 84-57 on the road. The Pioneers are a member of the Metro Conference. Sacred Heart is located in Fairfield, Conn.

Last season, Syracuse women's basketball went 24-9 overall and advanced to the second round of the 2026 NCAA Tournament. In the 2025-26 campaign, Sacred Heart went 13-18 overall.

In the Metro Conference's preseason poll, the Pioneers were projected to finish third in the league behind reigning conference champion Fairfield and Siena. Sacred Heart also placed three players on preseason All-Metro Conference teams.

They are graduate student forward Oralye Kiefer on the first team, senior forward Nalyce Dudley on the second team and sophomore guard Sophie Nascimento on the third team.

Syracuse women's basketball begins its 2026-27 season on Tuesday evening.

Felisha Legette-Jack, a former All-American player at SU, is entering her fifth season as the head coach of her alma mater. In her four previous campaigns, the Orange has reached the NCAA Tournament twice and won at least 20 games three times.

The 'Cuse 2026-27 roster includes several key returnees, college transfers, international prospects and a pair of incoming freshmen who both come from the state of New York. Center Uche Izoje is back for her sophomore campaign after winning multiple honors as an SU freshman, including Atlantic Coast Conference rookie of the year.

Ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, Izoje is on the preseason watch lists for the Naismith Trophy national player of the year honor and the Lisa Leslie Award, which is given out every year to the top center in Division I women's college hoops. The 6-foot-3 Izoje, who hails from Asaba, Nigeria, is also on the preseason All-ACC team.

While Syracuse women's basketball isn't in the preseason Associated Press top-25 poll, the 'Cuse does reside in early bracketology projections from ESPN for the 2027 Big Dance, which will feature an expansion to 76 participants. SU's 2026-27 schedule includes games against six foes that are in the preseason AP top 25.
