ESPN bracketologist Charlie Creme published his most recent projected field for the 2027 NCAA Tournament earlier this week, and he included Syracuse women's basketball. The Big Dance in both women's and men's hoops is expanding to 76 participants for the upcoming campaign. You can read more about the March Madness expansions here.
Creme has the Orange in Region 3, where the No. 1 seed is Southern California and the No. 2 seed is fellow Atlantic Coast Conference school Louisville. In the opening round, the No. 11 seed Syracuse is forecast to play No. 11 seed BYU, with the winner advancing to face No. 6 seed Minnesota. The 'Cuse is in the Austin pod, with No. 3 seed Texas playing No. 14 seed Southern Indiana as well.
In this latest bracketology from ESPN, Creme has the Big Ten Conference with the most bids, at 13. The ACC, the Big 12 Conference and the Southeastern Conference all have 10 schools included.
Syracuse women's basketball eyes a second straight trip to the Big Dance.
Last season, head coach Felisha Legette-Jack and her SU program went 24-9 overall. The Orange advanced to the second round of the 2026 NCAA Tournament. Looking ahead to the 2026-27 season, the 'Cuse received five votes in the preseason Associated Press top-25 poll.
In the Atlantic Coast Conference's preseason poll, Syracuse women's basketball was projected to finish at No. 7 in the league. Sophomore center Uche Izoje, the conference's rookie of the year in 2025-26, is on the preseason All-ACC team ahead of the 2026-27 campaign beginning.
The Orange's season opener will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 6:00 pm EST. The 'Cuse will host non-conference foe Sacred Heart at the JMA Wireless Dome, with live-streaming coverage on the ACC Network Extra.
