Syracuse women's basketball dominated its second straight non-conference opponent on Sunday afternoon. The Orange defeated Central New York neighbor and Ivy League member Cornell by a final score of 80-48 at the JMA Wireless Dome.

The 'Cuse moves to 2-0 overall in the young part of the 2026-27 campaign. Last Tuesday night at home, the Orange cruised by Metro Conference school Sacred Heart, 75-48. Up next, Syracuse women's basketball will host fellow Empire State team Siena (1-1 overall), also out of the Metro Conference, on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 6:00 pm EST, with live-streaming coverage on the ACC Network Extra.

Against Cornell (1-2 overall), the Orange shot 53.1 percent from the field, 31.6 percent from beyond the arc and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line. The Big Red struggled with its shooting. Cornell made 30.8 percent from the field, 26.1 percent from 3-point range and 71.4 percent from the charity stripe.

For the second consecutive game, Syracuse women's basketball was excellent on the defensive side. The 'Cuse held Cornell to just two points in the second quarter. Credit the Big Red for fighting tough in the second half, when Cornell was only outscored by SU, 38-36.

With this triumph, the Orange is 19-3 in its all-time series with the Big Red. The 'Cuse has now won 10 in a row against Cornell.
