Syracuse takes key first step in trying to prevail for 5-star PG, a 2027 priority target

On Saturday, Syracuse basketball took a vital first step in hoping to win out for 2027 priority target Nasir Anderson, a 5-star PG who has the Orange in his top 10.

Five-star point guard Nasir Anderson from Savannah, Ga., one of several priority targets for Syracuse basketball in the 2027 class, is down to 10 schools in his recruitment, including the Orange.

Per reports on Saturday from Sam Kayser and others, the 6-foot-3, 215-pound Anderson has a top 10 of Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Providence, Syracuse, Tennessee, UConn and Virginia, where former SU head coach Adrian Autry is now an assistant.

Naturally, that group of finalists poses steep competition for the Orange as first-year head coach Gerry McNamara and his assistants attempt to win out for Anderson, who in the 2027 cycle is a top-10 national prospect and a top-two point guard, according to varoius recruiting services.

The 'Cuse staff offered a scholarship to Anderson this past April and has prioritized him ever since. In total, he holds more than 30 offers from a range of college teams. While the Orange will have to keep pushing hard for Anderson, making his list cut on Saturday is an important first step.

Syracuse basketball is in the top 10 of 2027 5-star PG Nasir Anderson.

Anderson is headed into his senior year at the powerhouse Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., which, in the 2025-26 campaign, went 38-4 overall and was a top-10 national program. High school hoops experts have told Inside the Loud House that the Crew will be among the top prep programs in the country in 2026-27, and a potential return trip to the season-ending Chipotle Nationals in Fishers, Ind., next spring is absolutely in the cards for Prolific Prep.

At the time of this writing on Saturday afternoon, it didn't appear that Anderson has set any upcoming official visits. However, reports indicate that he's in the process of scheduling official visits, and Inside the Loud House anticipates that the 'Cuse will get one.

Another thing to keep in mind here is that Anderson is likely to make his college decision next spring, and, thus, isn't expected to sign with a college program during the early signing period this November.

Candidly, I think that works in Syracuse's favor for Anderson, because it gives McNamara and his staff time during the upcoming 2026-27 campaign to show how they're turning the Orange around (hopefully!).

If Anderson sees the culture that McNamara is building, and the team is winning more games on the court that it has in recent seasons, that will only help improve SU's chances to prevail for the elite floor general.

Inside the Loud House, coincidentally, wrote about Anderson earlier on Saturday, noting what various national analysts and scouts are saying about him. He's been sidelined a bit in recent months due to a hip injury, but reports state that Anderson should be good to go for the 2026-27 campaign at Prolific Prep.

Anderson, also a member of the Atlanta Celtics grassroots hoops program on the Adidas 3SSB circuit, is among a half-dozen guys who are Syracuse basketball 2027 priority recruits. Another one, five-star wing/small forward Moussa Kamissoko, set an official visit to the Orange on Friday.

Inside the Loud House went in-depth on Syracuse basketball's latest efforts in the 2027 and 2028 classes earlier this week, given that a recent dead period in Division I recruiting ended on August 19.
