Week 6 of the NFL season ended up being one of the best weeks of the season for former Syracuse football players. Two of our favorite former running backs and special teams contributors made headlines, with a few other notable performances as well. Let’s look at how former Syracuse players did in week 6.
Sean Tucker, Buccaneers
Well, it’s about time! With Bucky Irving hurt, Tucker was a little more involved in Tampa’s offense. He got six carries, gaining 25 yards, including a touchdown on his first carry of the game. Tucker was also on kick return duty, returning five kicks for 127 total yards. Irving may or may not be back from injury next week, potentially giving Tucker more opportunities to get regular snaps for the 5-1 Buccaneers.

Riley Dixon, Buccaneers
With the Bucs winning 30-19, Dixon was only asked to punt the ball three times. Thanks to one of those punts going for 60 yards, he averaged 55.3 yards per punt for the game, with all three of Dixon’s kicks landing inside the 20-yard line.
Andre Szmyt, Browns
The Browns looked terrible on Sunday, but Szmyt did his job. He scored all nine of Cleveland’s points, making all three of his field goals, including a 53-yarder.

Oronde Gadsden, Chargers
With Quentin Johnston injured, Gadsden had a bigger role to fill for the Chargers, doing so in his hometown of Miami nonetheless. He hauled in a career-high seven catches for a career-high 68 yards in a slim 29-27 win over the Dolphins. Unfortunately, Gadsden was also guilty of losing a fumble, but bounced back to have the best game of his career.
Zaire Franklin, Colts
There aren’t a lot of good things to say about the Indianapolis defense, which gave up 27 points against the Cardinals and backup Jacoby Brissett, who threw for 320 yards. However, the Colts did hold the Cardinals to just 88 rushing yards, in part because Franklin racked up nine tackles, which was the second most on the team.
LeQuint Allen, Jaguars
Allen continues to play situationally as Jacksonville’s third-string running back. In Sunday’s 20-12 loss to the Seahawks, he got a couple of touches, rushing for two yards on his only carry and making a 10-yard catch. After just two total touches in his previous three games combined, this is some progress for Allen.
Alijah Clark, Cowboys
The Cowboys may have lost, but Clark continued to be a contributor on special teams. After making his first career tackle in his NFL debut last week, Clark had two tackles in Sunday’s loss to the Panthers.
Andre Cisco, Jets
It was a better day than usual for Cisco and the Jets’ defense, who only conceded 13 points against the Broncos in London. In fact, Cisco recovered a fumble for the team’s first takeaway of the season to help give the Jets an early 3-0 lead. He also finished the game with six tackles, including five solo tackles.
