With a win over Clemson on Saturday, this was a great weekend for Syracuse football fans, even with the gut-wrenching injury to Steve Angeli. Things got even better on Sunday with a few former Syracuse players making an impact. Unfortunately, Ifeatu Melifonwu missed this week with an injury and Garrett Williams went on IR. However, there were other former Orange taking the field and making a difference.

Andre Szmyt, Browns

Szmyt took a lot of the blame for Cleveland’s Week 1 loss, but he got some redemption this week. The former Lou Groza winner nailed a 55-yard field goal at the buzzer, giving the Browns a 13-10 upset over the Packers. Szmyt made another field goal and a PAT earlier in the game, turning things around after his Week 1 disappointment.

Oronde Gadsden, Chargers

After being inactive the first two weeks, Gadsden finally made his NFL debut in Week 3. He was targeted by Justin Herbert seven times, making five catches for 46 yards. Gadsden had more catches and yards for the Chargers than Ladd McConkey, which makes it all the more puzzling why Jim Harbaugh kept him inactive the first two weeks.

Zaire Franklin, Colts

Franklin played nearly every defensive snap for the Colts in their 41-20 win over the Titans. He tied for the team lead with seven tackles, giving him the third-most tackles on Indy’s roster this season.

LeQuint Allen, Jaguars

It was another day of moderate usage for Allen, who had one catch for nine yards during Jacksonville’s 17-10 win over the Texans. Allen played 28% of the team’s snaps, but only got that one touch. Somehow, Bhayshul Tuten got six carries despite playing just 18% of snaps. We can also assume Allen won a bet with teammates Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne after Syracuse’s win over Clemson.

Riley Dixon, Buccaneers

Dixon punted four times for the Bucs during their thrilling 29-27 win over the Jets. Among them was a 60-yarder, which sounds like the punter we all know and love.

Sean Tucker, Buccaneers

With Bucky Irving getting 25 carries, there wasn’t much of an opportunity for Tucker on Sunday, as he had no carries. However, he continues to be Tampa’s primary kick returner. He returned five kicks for 124 yards against the Jets.

Andre Cisco, Jets

Cisco and the Jets’ defense had another rough day. The Jets rallied to take a brief fourth-quarter lead but couldn’t hold it. In the game, Cisco had five tackles, including one for a loss.
