One of the top wide receivers in the 2027 class will visit Syracuse football toward the end of November.

Per a post on X from On3's Steve Wiltfong, 2027 five-star wide receiver/athlete Matthew Gregory from Pennsylvania is expected to be in attendance at the JMA Wireless Dome for the Orange's 2025 regular-season finale on Saturday, Nov. 29, against Boston College.

Another elite wide receiver in the 2027 cycle, four-star Javien Robinson from the Pittsburgh area, will also visit the 'Cuse for the Boston College contest. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Robinson, a top-100 national prospect, is a junior at McKeesport Area Senior High School in McKeesport, Pa., which is a suburb of Pittsburgh.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Gregory, who also plays defensive back, is a junior at Owen J. Roberts High School in Pottstown, Pa., a Philadelphia suburb. According to social media posts, he has visited the Orange several times in the past, and the 'Cuse staff offered Gregory a scholarship in August of 2024.

Syracuse football is pursuing numerous highly ranked wide receivers in the 2027 class.

As a sophomore in the 2024 season, Gregory tallied 1,100 all-purpose yards, 850 receiving yards and 250 rushing yards. He hauled in 48 catches, had 13 receiving touchdowns, three rushing scores and also made six interceptions. So far in 2025, Owen J. Roberts is a perfect 4-0, according to MaxPreps.

Although his recruitment could have a way to go, Gregory already has a robust scholarship offer list. His full offer sheet includes schools, besides the Orange, such as Arkansas, Auburn, Boston College, Florida State, Maryland, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Tennessee, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

Within the 2027 class, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, Gregory is five stars, No. 39 overall, No. 3 at athlete and No. 3 in Pennsylvania. The industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking has him at No. 29 nationally, No. 4 at wide receiver and No. 3 in Pennsylvania. ESPN, meanwhile, places Gregory at No. 25 around the country in this cycle.

To date, Syracuse football has a half-dozen verbal pledges in its 2027 class. All six of these commits are rated three stars. The Orange's 2027 cycle is currently No. 4 nationwide, according to the 247Sports Composite.
