Syracuse football starting center Austin Collins is out for the team's game at No. 7 Georgia Tech on Saturday afternoon, according to the Orange's initial injury report required by the Atlantic Coast Conference that posted on Thursday night.
In the team's home loss to Pittsburgh last Saturday, Collins, a redshirt senior transfer from Louisville, barely played due to an injury. Expected to replace him as the Orange's starting center against the Yellow Jackets will be redshirt sophomore Joshua Miller.
In other offensive line news, freshman Byron Washington, who didn't play versus the Panthers, is expected to suit up on Saturday in Atlanta. He's not listed on Thursday evening's injury report.
Here is the full injury report disclosed by Syracuse football ahead of week nine.
Listed as out:
Redshirt sophomore wide receiver Tyshawn RussellĀ (out for the season)
Redshirt junior quarterback Steve Angeli (out for the season)
Redshirt senior linebacker Derek McDonald
Redshirt junior defensive back Nate Prater
Sophomore running back/return man Malachi James
Freshman offensive lineman Jackson Iak
Redshirt freshman wide receiver Nate Edwards
Junior defensive lineman Rashard Perry (out for season)
Redshirt senior offensive lineman Austin Collins
Redshirt sophomore long snapper/fullback Fran Brown Jr.
Redshirt senior defensive lineman Chase Simmons
Listed as questionable:
Freshman wide receiver Darien Williams
Freshman wide receiver Darius Johnson
Redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Trevion Mack
Redshirt freshman linebacker Fatim Diggs
Sophomore defensive back Davien Kerr
Listed as probable:
Senior wide receiver Justus Ross-Simmons
Redshirt junior linebacker Gary Bryant III
Redshirt senior offensive lineman TJ Ferguson
Redshirt senior tight end Dan Villari
Keep an eye on Kerr. He's one of the top cornerbacks in the Syracuse football secondary. So far in the 2025 season, Kerr has generated nine solo tackles, 11 total tackles, three interceptions and one pass breakup.
The Orange, as required by the ACC, will also have to publish an injury report on Friday night and then again on Saturday before the game. Here's how to watch the 'Cuse take on Georgia Tech. Syracuse football is a heavy betting underdog and looks to snap a three-game losing steak.
The Yellow Jackets, meanwhile, are the only ACC school that has yet to drop a game in the 2025 season. Georgia Tech has a potent rushing attack that will test the Orange's defense, especially the 'Cuse defensive tackles, edge rushers and linebackers.
