The last undefeated team in the Atlantic Coast Conference this season is Georgia Tech, and the Yellow Jackets will host a struggling Syracuse football team this coming Saturday afternoon.
Georgia Tech, picked to finish No. 4 in the ACC this term, is playing quite well. The Yellow Jackets took care of Duke on the road this past weekend, and with then-No. 2 Miami falling last Friday night to Louisville, Georgia Tech appears poised to be the conference's top team in 2025.
Then again, there are five games left in the regular season. For the Orange, it has lost three straight, including a 30-13 setback to Pittsburgh in week eight at the JMA Wireless Dome on Homecoming. The 'Cuse had a strong outing on defense, but the team's offense is sputtering. And it's not just at quarterback. The run game is weak these days, too.

When I wrote this article, FanDuel had the 'Cuse as a large 17.5-point betting underdog on the road against the Yellow Jackets, with the over/under set at 54.5 points.

Syracuse football at No. 7 Georgia Tech prediction and pick
In their short all-time series together, the Orange is just 2-4 against the Yellow Jackets. Last year, the 'Cuse knocked off a top-25 Georgia Tech squad on the Hill, 31-28. That was one of three wins by Syracuse football over ranked foes in 2024, when the Orange would go 10-3 overall.
Redshirt sophomore Rickie Collins, the squad's starting quarterback, had a tough time against Pitt, throwing three interceptions. He did, though, also air out two touchdown passes, and there were some drives where Collins seemed to look more comfortable in the pocket. On Monday, head coach Fran Brown maintained that he's sticking with Collins, who Brown says gives the team the best chance to win.
Speaking of quarterbacks, Georgia Tech has a stellar one in redshirt senior Haynes King. King is a true dual-threat quarterback, and while he doesn't throw for a ton of yards, he's mobile, evades pressure and sacks, and is a winner.
The Yellow Jackets are a balanced team. Heading into week nine, they are No. 4 in the ACC in both points scored per game and points allowed per contest. Georgia Tech is a run-heavy squad, with the league's No. 2 rushing attack.
If the Orange defense can replicate what it did versus the Panthers, that bodes well for the 'Cuse. That being said, the team's defense will be tested by the Yellow Jackets' run game. Additionally, I don't have much confidence that the Syracuse football offense will score enough to stay in this ACC clash.
I'll reluctantly project Georgia Tech, at home, to move to 8-0 with a 28-17 victory over the Orange.
