On June 15, the 2027 contact period opened, enabling Syracuse football coaches and their peers around the country to begin initiating direct communication with high school prospects in this class.
Once mid-June hit, per posts on X, the Orange staff made contact with a wide range of rising high school juniors. Things are quieter right now, as there's a dead period in college football recruiting that lasts through July 31.
In any event, the 'Cuse is off to a fast beginning with its 2027 cycle, landing at least a quartet of three-star verbal commits thus far in a class ranked No. 4 overall by the industry-generated 247Sports Composite when I wrote this article.
One of the more recent verbal pledges arrived from three-star defensive lineman and top-450 national prospect Stanley Montgomery of Archbishop Ryan High School in Philadelphia.
While many 2027 players could have a way to go in their respective recruiting processes, based on some recent chatter from recruiting analysts, there are Orange targets in this class whom 'Cuse fans should monitor.
Keep an eye on these Syracuse football 2027 recruits.
Mikahi Allen
Four-star linebacker
Don Bosco Preparatory High School in Ramsey, N.J.
According to social media posts, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound Allen has visited the Hill at least twice. Offered by the 'Cuse in May of 2024, Allen checks in at No. 169 nationally and No. 9 at outside linebacker within the 2027 class, according to ESPN.

Oluwasemilore Olubobola
Four-star offensive tackle
Saint Peter's Preparatory School in Jersey City, N.J.
Syracuse football offered the 6-foot-6, 275-pound Olubobola in June of 2024. He has visited the Orange program, and the chatter these days is that the 'Cuse staff is reaching out frequently to Olubobola. When I penned this column, his highest 2027 ratings came via On3, which had Olubobola at No. 38 overall, No. 8 at offensive tackle and No. 2 in New Jersey, a state that Orange coaches have deep ties to and represents a key recruiting area for Syracuse football.
Keegan Croucher
Four-star quarterback
Cheshire Academy in Cheshire, Conn.
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Croucher, who is from Fonda, N.Y., picked up a Syracuse football offer last December. He, too, has visited the 'Cuse. Croucher's offer list is mighty impressive, although I've seen some interviews where he's said he's high on Syracuse football. When I authored this story, the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking slotted Croucher at No. 104 overall, No. 12 at quarterback and No. 1 in Connecticut within the 2027 cycle.
2027 4-star QB and top-60 national prospect Keegan Croucher, who has had an award-winning sophomore season at @CAcatsFB1794, lands a Syracuse football offer. He was on the Hill this past Saturday on a visit as the Orange upset No. 6 Miami. Congrats, @KeeganCroucher. 🧡🎯 https://t.co/p13pcz7qWf
