Elite 2025 five-star prospect Javion Hilson from the Sunshine State will officially visit Syracuse football early next month, according to national analysts and recruiting services.
The 6-foot-5, 245-pound Hilson is rated as high as No. 16 nationally, No. 2 in Florida and No. 1 at edge, per Rivals.com. Within the senior class, both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking place him in the top 50 overall.
Hilson plans to take an official visit to the Orange on November 2, when the 'Cuse will host fellow Atlantic Coast Conference member Virginia Tech. Rivals.com national analyst John Garcia Jr. first reported this development, which was confirmed by 247Sports analyst Mike McAllister and also listed under Hilson's bio on the 247Sports Web site.
Per 247Sports, Hilson is expected to make his college decision known on December 4. The competition for the Syracuse football staff to prevail for Hilson is steep, but it's also encouraging that the 'Cuse will host him on an official visit.
Five-star edge Javion Hilson will soon officially visit Syracuse football.
A standout senior at Cocoa High School in Cocoa, Fla., Hilson holds nearly 40 scholarship offers, per his bio on the 247Sports Web site. The Orange staff offered him this past January. That same month, Hilson flipped his verbal pledge from Southeastern Conference powerhouse Alabama to fellow Atlantic Cost Conference member Florida State.
However, Hilson noted via his X page on September 8 that he was de-committing from Florida State and reopening his recruitment. This past April, Hilson took an unofficial visit to the Hill and was reportedly in attendance for Syracuse football's annual spring game.
McAllister writes that, previously, Hilson has gone on official visits to Florida, Texas, Central Florida and Florida State. When I wrote this column, SEC school Texas had some analyst buzz in Hilson's recruitment on the On3 Web site.
Shortly after Hilson's de-commitment from the Seminoles, On3 national recruiting expert Hayes Fawcett said via X that Hilson was eyeing possible upcoming visits to programs such as the Orange, Florida, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Texas A&M and Michigan.
To date, Syracuse football first-year head coach Fran Brown and his top-flight staff have secured at least 30 verbal pledges in their 2025 cycle, a class that is currently No. 35 around the country, according to the 247Sports Composite.
One of the Orange's more recent 2025 commitments came in late September, when four-star athlete/defensive back Demetres Samuel Jr. of Heritage High School in Palm Bay, Fla., flipped his verbal pledge back to Syracuse football from SEC team Florida.
In the 2025 cycle, On3 is the most bullish these days on the 6-foot-2, 185-pound Samuel, ranking him at No. 124 nationwide.
