Recently, a national analyst said that Syracuse football was among the teams standing out the most to 2026 four-star defensive back and state champion Jaydin Broadnax from Florida.
Well, in recent days, per social media posts, word came out that 6-foot-3, 185-pound Broadnax has a top seven in his recruiting process, and the Orange is among the contenders still in the mix.
Broadnax's top seven consists of Syracuse football, Florida State, Louisville, Michigan, Auburn, Florida and USF. It's certainly no surprise that several schools in the Sunshine State are in Broadnax's top seven.
I also find it encouraging that the 'Cuse made the cut, although competition to prevail in Broadnax's recruitment will prove intense.
Not too long ago, Rivals.com national recruiting director Adam Gorney wrote in part about Broadnax, "Michigan and Florida could have the edge and those two might battle it out until the end but Louisville, Syracuse and Florida State are right there as well."
Syracuse football resides in the top seven of 2026 4-star DB Jaydin Broadnax.
Broadnax's full scholarship offer sheet totals around 30. He picked up an offer from the Orange and first-year head coach Fran Brown in mid-February of 2024.
Last April, Broadnax took a spring visit to the 'Cuse, writing in an X post, "It’s definitely something special at Syracuse and I can’t wait to be back!"
As I noted in another recent piece, as a junior, Broadnax put forth an award-winning 2024 campaign for West Boca Raton Community High School in Boca Raton, Fla., which won the Florida High School Athletic Association ("FHSAA") Class 6A state title.
Within the 2026 cycle, he's currently in the top 200 nationally and the No. 20 cornerback, per ESPN. Multiple other recruiting services place Broadnax in the top 300 around the country in his class.
For now, I've yet to see any predictions for Broadnax from recruiting analysts on the 247Sports Web site, Rivals.com or the On3 Web site, but I'll continue to keep an eye out in that regard.
Brown and his assistants, across numerous cycles, have recruited the Sunshine State extremely hard. To date, in 2026, the 'Cuse has at least seven verbal pledges among high school juniors, including a commitment from four-star offensive tackle and top-200 national prospect Javeion Cooper out of Melbourne Central Catholic in Melbourne, Fla.
At the time of this writing, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite placed the Orange's 2026 class at No. 15 nationwide.
