Syracuse football coaches are recruiting 2027 four-star defensive back Bryce Williams hard, and the top-200 national prospect from the Sunshine State is noticing.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Williams, who de-committed from fellow Atlantic Coast Conference school Florida State last December, has dropped a top six of Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Nebraska, Syracuse football and Texas, according to Rivals' director of recruiting Chad Simmons.

Heck yeah.

Across various classes, the Orange staff - most notably, head coach Fran Brown and general manager Tommy Caporale - has fared quite well with its recruiting efforts in the state of Florida.

Williams, who plays for Western High School in Davie, Fla., received a scholarship offer from Syracuse football in late August of 2025, and late last month, the SU staff was in for him, according to a post on X. Let's see if the Orange gets Williams on the Hill for a visit during spring practices or even an official visit at some point.

Syracuse football is a finalist for 2027 four-star defensive back Bryce Williams.

While the 'Cuse is in the mix for Williams, fellow suitor Nebraska out of the Big Ten Conference has analyst buzz for him. When I wrote this article on Friday morning, at least four predictions were in logged in the Cornhuskers' direction for Williams on Rivals.

Within the 2027 cycle, Rivals places Williams at No. 178 overall, No. 16 at cornerback and No. 22 in Florida. Both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking have him in the top 225 nationally of this class.

Currently, Syracuse football has eight verbal pledges in its 2027 class, which is No. 7 around the country, per the 247Sports Composite. Seven of these verbal commits are rated as three-star players, while athlete Tristin Hughes from Ohio is a four-star prospect.

Besides Williams, the Orange coaching staff is in pursuit of numerous other 2027 targets who are rated either four stars or even five stars by recruiting Web sites. Nebraska may prove tough to beat out for Williams, although I'd never count out Brown in a recruiting battle involving a highly rated prospect.
