Syracuse football scores pledge from 3-star All-American LB at Baltimore powerhouse

As Syracuse football and its peers nationwide prepare for the early signing period to begin on Wednesday for 2025 prospects, first-year head coach Fran Brown and his top-flight staff continue to also haul in pledges from players in other recruiting classes, too.
One of the latest verbal commitments for the Orange has arrived from 2026 three-star athlete/linebacker Maurice Medley, who revealed his pledge to the 'Cuse via his X page.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Medley says on his X page that he plays both inside and outside linebacker. Media reports indicate he also has suited up at wide receiver for a Baltimore powerhouse program, the Saint Frances Academy.
Most importantly, a huge congrats and welcome from Orange Nation to Maurice! According to MaxPreps, Saint Frances finished its 2024 season at 8-3 overall, No. 8 nationally and No. 1 in Maryland.
Syracuse football continues to add to its 2026 class.
In his first campaign with Saint Frances, during the 2022 stanza, Medley was named to MaxPreps' freshman All-America second team on defense, with that media outlet and recruiting service noting, "For one of the country's top programs, Medley made an impact at both linebacker and receiver, showing his versatility."
While only a junior in high school, Medley has an impressive offer sheet that includes schools such as Boston College, Cincinnati, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Southern California and Virginia Tech, according to recruiting services.
He's a high three-star prospect who, at the time of this writing, checked in at No. 503 overall, No. 38 at athlete and No. 8 in Maryland within the 2026 class, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.
According to an article from recruiting analyst Charles Kang of The Juice Online, Medley has developed a strong relationship with Tyshon Fogg, an assistant linebackers coach at the 'Cuse. In discussing why he selected Syracuse football, Medley said in part to Kang, "It just felt like home. A lot of love from the coaching staff."
Per his X account, Medley took visits to the Hill twice last month - when the Orange defeated Virginia Tech on November 2 and again this past Saturday when the 'Cuse upset then-No. 6 Miami.
Medley becomes at least the third high school junior to verbally commit to Syracuse football in its 2026 cycle. In late November, three-star athlete/defensive back Jaxson Gates of Damien High School in La Verne, Calif., verbally pledged to the Orange.
Three-star running back D'Antae Sheffey of Harrisburg High School in Harrisburg, Pa., gave his verbal commitment to Syracuse football back in April.
