Former Syracuse football record-setting senior quarterback Kyle McCord just wrapped up his performance at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, along with several other former Orange standouts.
McCord, when speaking with the media at the combine, discussed his time on the Hill as well as his former team, Ohio State, which won the College Football Playoff national championship this past season.
In 2023, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound native of Mount Laurel, N.J., sported an 11-1 mark in the regular season with the Buckeyes, but he decided to enter the transfer portal. McCord, who has long-time relationships with head coach Fran Brown and several other 'Cuse assistants, elected to play his senior campaign with the Orange.

It worked out well for McCord and Ohio State. He set a couple of Syracuse football and Atlantic Coast Conference records as a senior, with the 'Cuse going 10-3 overall and notching a final No. 20 national ranking in the Associated Press top-25 poll.
The Buckeyes, as I mentioned, captured the grand prize, defeating Notre Dame in the CFP title contest.
Per an article from On3's Steve Samra, McCord said of Ohio State winning the whole thing, "It was awesome. I mean, obviously, those are my guys, so seeing them accomplish that goal was sweet, knowing how bad they worked for it. Like I said, I had a great year, and they had a great year. It was just cool to see everybody win, to be honest."
Pure class there from Kyle.
Former Syracuse football QB Kyle McCord finished at No. 10 in the Heisman Trophy voting.
In 2024, McCord completed 66 percent of his passes for 4,779 yards and 34 touchdowns against 12 interceptions. He led the country in total passing yards, and McCord was arguably the biggest reason why the Orange attained 10 victories this past stanza for the first time since 2018.

As far as I can tell, based on how he fared at the East-West Shrine Bowl in Arlington, Texas, and the recent combine, McCord's draft stock appears to be rising, according to some experts. The 2025 NFL Draft will take place from April 24 to April 26 in Green Bay, Wis.
McCord, in the On3 piece, acknowledged it wasn't easy to transfer out of Ohio State. "When you pour three years of blood, sweat, and tears into a program, and you know, you create a lot of great relationships there, with the players and the coaching staff and the support staff. It wasn’t an easy decision to leave. ... But, you know, I think it worked out for me, it worked out for them, and overall, I think it was the right thing to do."
