Ten Syracuse football players are listed as out against North Carolina on Friday night at the JMA Wireless Dome, according to the Orange's initial injury report filed with the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Those listed as out are as follows:
Redshirt sophomore wide receiver Tyshawn RussellĀ (out for the season)
Redshirt junior quarterback Steve Angeli (out for the season)
Redshirt senior linebacker Derek McDonald
Redshirt senior defensive lineman Chase Simmons
Redshirt junior defensive back Nate Prater
Sophomore running back/return man Malachi James
Freshman offensive lineman Jackson Iak
Junior defensive lineman Rashard Perry (out for season)
Redshirt senior safety Berry Buxton III
Redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Joshua Miller
Redshirt senior offensive lineman Austin Collins, the Orange's starting center, didn't play last Saturday in the squad's loss at Georgia Tech. However, ahead of the UNC game, he is listed as questionable.
If Collins can't go on Friday evening, that's concerning. His primary backup at center is Miller, who is listed as out in Syracuse football's initial injury report. It's also a bummer that Buxton is out, as he's a key member of the 'Cuse secondary.
More from Syracuse football's injury report that was disclosed on Wednesday night.
Those who are listed as questionable:
Freshman wide receiver Darien Williams
Redshirt junior linebacker Gary Bryant III
Redshirt senior offensive lineman Austin Collins
Redshirt sophomore long snapper/fullback Fran Brown Jr.
Redshirt freshman wide receiver Nate Edwards
Redshirt freshman offensive lineman Vito Shevchenko
Sophomore safety Braheem Long Jr.
Listed as probable:
Redshirt senior offensive lineman TJ Ferguson
Redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Trevion Mack
Freshman offensive lineman Byron Washington
Sophomore running back Yasin Willis
Freshman linebacker Trey Dudley
The 'Cuse will have to disclose additional injury reports with the ACC on Thursday night and then again on Friday before the game. Here's how to watch this conference clash between Syracuse football and Bill Belichick-led North Carolina.
Both the Orange and the Tar Heels enter Friday night's encounter having dropped four straight. Syracuse football head coach Fran Brown said earlier this week that redshirt sophomore Rickie Collins, the team's starting quarterback each of the past four contests, won't be the only QB to play against UNC.
The 'Cuse has home affairs against North Carolina and Boston College remaining. The Orange will also travel to top-15 teams Miami and Notre Dame. Syracuse football is trying to make a fourth consecutive bowl game, but it will be a daunting task to knock off either the Hurricanes or the Fighting Irish on the road.
