Isaac Chukwurah, a 2026 three-star defensive lineman who is verbally committed to Big Ten Conference school Penn State, is hearing from Syracuse football, a source tells me.

On October 13, the 6-foot-2, 260-pound Chukwurah said that he remained verbally pledged to the Nittany Lions, but that he would also reopen his recruitment, after Penn State fired head coach James Franklin a day earlier.

Chukwurah is a senior at the Caravel Academy in Bear, Del. The Orange views Delaware as a recruiting emphasis. For instance, in its 2026 class, the 'Cuse has three verbal pledges from Delaware thus far. In total, Syracuse football's 2026 cycle boasts 28 verbal commits and is ranked No. 26 by the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

Over the last few days, according to his X page, Chukwurah has picked up scholarship offers from schools such as Miami, West Virginia, Boston College, Southern Mississippi and N.C. State.

Syracuse football coaches have reached out to Penn State DL commit Isaac Chukwurah.

Within the 2026 class, Chukwurah is just outside the top 500 nationally. Per the 247Sports Composite, he resides at No. 507 overall, No. 58 at defensive lineman and No. 2 in Delaware.

Over at the industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking, Chukwurah is No. 523 nationally, No. 53 at defensive lineman and No. 2 in Delaware. Rivals, though, has him as the No. 29 defensive lineman around the country in the high school senior cycle.

The Orange's 2026 class, to date, features several defensive linemen/edge rushers. They include four-star Jarius Rodgers from Florida, four-star Kamron Wilson from Florida, three-star Walt Frazier
from Pennsylvania and three-star Kordae Houston from Texas.

Regarding Penn State verbal commits in the 2026 and 2027 cycles, Syracuse football coaches have shown an interest in several of them. Beyond Chukwurah, 2027 five-star running back Kemon Spell from the Pittsburgh area, who has de-committed from the Nittany Lions, will visit the 'Cuse for its Halloween game against North Carolina at the JMA Wireless Dome, a source has confirmed.

Khalil Taylor, a 2027 four-star wide receiver also from the Pittsburgh area, will be on the Hill this Saturday night when the Orange welcomes Pittsburgh to town. Taylor has also de-committed from Penn State.

I'll closely monitor if the Syracuse football staff is in touch with other former PSU verbal pledges who have reopened their recruitments.
