National recruiting service 247Sports on Monday disclosed its final national rankings for the 2026 class, and Syracuse football freshman wide receiver Calvin Russell III from Miami remained at five stars.

Heck yeah.

The 6-foot-5, 195-pound Russell, who enrolled at SU last month for the spring semester, is currently a wing for Syracuse basketball. While he's a talented and long-time hooper, Russell is Syracuse football's highest-rated commit in more than two decades.

Via 247Sports, Russell is five stars, No. 30 nationally, No. 3 at wide receiver and No. 3 in Florida. ESPN has him at No. 36 overall. Over at the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, Russell is No. 83, and per the industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking, he is No. 62.

Syracuse football WR Calvin Russell III stayed at 5 stars in final 247Sports rankings.

Not too long ago, Russell was named the Dade 3A-1A offensive player of the year. He had a standout senior season at Miami Northwestern Senior High School, which was the 2025 runner-up in the Florida High School Athletic Association ("FHSAA") Class 3A state playoffs. Miami Northwestern won the Class 3A state title in 2024.

Syracuse football's 2026 class at the high school level features 26 signees. This 'Cuse cycle is No. 27 via ESPN, No. 33 per the Rivals Industry Ranking and No. 34 from the 247Sports Composite. As I've noted on numerous occasions, the Orange's 2026 prep class is the program's highest-ranked high school cycle in the modern recruiting services era.

In the new national rankings from 247Sports, two Syracuse football 2026 commits are rated four-star prospects. They are wide receiver Amare Gough from Richmond, Va., and defensive lineman Alexander Haskell from Philadelphia.

Within the Orange's 2026 prep class, six signees are ranked as four-star players by at least one recruiting service. They are Gough, Haskell, edge Kamron Wilson from Miami, defensive back Tedarius Hughes from Miami, offensive tackle Javeion Cooper from the Orlando, Fla., area and edge Jarius Rodgers from the Jacksonville, Fla., region.

Syracuse football head coach Fran Brown and his top-flight staff did a wonderful job with their 2026 cycle, and that included landing numerous commits from the Sunshine State, headlined by Russell.
