Syracuse Football: 5-star Calvin Russell, 4-star Kamron Wilson score huge honors

Two members of Syracuse football's record-setting 2026 class notched big-time honors this week for their terrific senior seasons.

According to reports and social media posts, five-star wide receiver Calvin Russell lll has been named the Dade 3A-1A offensive player of the year, while four-star edge rusher Kamron Wilson was named first-team All-Dade for the second consecutive campaign.

In 2025, the 6-foot-5, 195-pound Russell helped lead Miami Northwestern Senior High School's football team to a 13-1 overall record and a runner-up finish in the Florida High School Athletic Association ("FHSAA") Class 3A state playoffs.

In the title game, Russell hauled in eight catches for 136 yards, and he scored a rushing touchdown. Per MaxPreps, as a senior, he appeared in nine games with 517 yards and seven receiving touchdowns. Russell rushed for 38 yards with one score on the ground. Through the air, he passed for 368 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions.

Oh, and the talented wing in hoops scored his first points for Syracuse basketball earlier this week when the 'Cuse fell by 20 points to N.C. State in Raleigh, N.C.

Syracuse football's 2026 cycle is stellar.

As a senior, the 6-foot-5, 225-pound Wilson helped guide Miami Southridge Senior High School to an 11-2 mark, and the Spartans advanced to the regional finals of the FHSAA Class 6A state tournament.

Per his bio on the MaxPreps Web site, in 2025, Wilson played in 10 games. He tallied 45 solo tackles, 52 total tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, three sacks and 10 quarterback hurries.

On Thursday, ESPN released its final 2026 national rankings, where it includes 300 high school prospects. Russell, the Orange's highest-ranked signee in more than two decades, checked in at No. 36 overall, per ESPN. Wilson was No. 286 nationally.

Head coach Fran Brown and his staff did a masterful job with their 2026 high school class, which stands at 26 commits and is Syracuse football's highest-rated prep cycle in the modern recruiting services era.

Russell is a five-star prospect, according to 247Sports. Six other Orange 2026 signees are rated as four-star players by at least one recruiting service.
