Experts at CBS Sports aren't forecasting Syracuse football to win a ton of games in the upcoming 2025 season.

Of course, that's why the games are played on the field, but still, a recent article from CBS Sports does seem to align with other media reports suggesting that the Orange is set to face one of the toughest schedules nationwide in 2025.

Not too long ago, CBS Sports' experts projected win and loss totals for every Atlantic Coast Conference school in the next term.

This national media outlet is predicting that the 'Cuse, in 2025, will go 5-7 in its regular-season docket. CBS Sports projects that Syracuse football will beat UConn, Colgate, Duke, Pittsburgh and Boston College, with the Orange falling to Tennessee, Clemson, SMU, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Miami and Notre Dame.

Syracuse football has a tall task ahead in the 2025 season.

In late February, I noted in a column that FanDuel had put the over-under win total for the 'Cuse in 2025 at 5.5. Of course, this means that CBS Sports is picking the under for the Orange.

Call me a homer, but I'm going with the over for Syracuse football in 2025. Now, it will prove immensely challenging for head coach Fran Brown and his program to replicate what they did in 2024, when the 'Cuse sported a 10-3 overall mark and boasted a top-20 national ranking in the final Associated Press top-25 poll.

For one, at least on paper, the Orange's 2025 schedule looks much more daunting than this most recent campaign. What's more, the team's prolific passing attack from 2024 has to replace several key players, including record-setting quarterback Kyle McCord.

So to "expect" Syracuse football to attain 10 victories in 2025 might prove a tad unrealistic, but again, that's why the games are played on the field.

Here's the analysis from CBS Sports: "Fran Brown had a fantastic debut with the Orange, winning 10 games behind one of the most prolific passing attacks in the conference with a win against top-10 Miami in the last week of the regular season. Syracuse had one of the more manageable schedules in the league and took advantage, but now comes the snap back with a slate that will make extremely difficult to replicate last season's success. It is possible that Syracuse has five teams in the preseason AP Top 25 poll on its schedule, including four teams who were in the College Football Playoff a year ago. Combine that schedule with the loss of Kyle McCord, LeQuint Allen and three of the top four pass-catchers, and it's easy to see why this will be a much tougher season in 2025."

Personally, I envision the Orange winning at least seven affairs in 2025. But that would require the 'Cuse to hold serve at home, upset Tennessee at a neutral site and/or grab at least one to two road triumphs.

Easier said then done.
