Syracuse football recruits are All-Americans for the 2024 season.
MaxPreps recently disclosed its sophomore and junior All-America teams, with multiple prospects who hold scholarship offers from the Orange staff making the cut.
The sophomore All-America squads are comprised of players in the 2027 recruiting cycle. Among those residing on these teams are 2027 four-star athlete and top-10 national prospect Xavier Sabb as well as 2027 four-star cornerback and top-30 national prospect Kenton Dopson III.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Sabb, a standout at Glassboro High School in Glassboro, N.J., is on the MaxPreps sophomore All-America defensive first team. He received an offer from the 'Cuse in April of 2023.
Zack Poff, the national football editor at MaxPreps, wrote of Sabb, "Impacted the game at a high level in all three phases for undefeated Group 1 state champs finishing with 26 tackles and seven interceptions to go with 48 receptions for 843 yards and 12 touchdowns on offense."
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Dopson, out of Miami Norland Senior High School in Miami Gardens, Fla., is on the sophomore All-America defensive second group. He was offered by the Orange in April of 2024. Poff said: "Lined up against the best wide receivers in South Florida and did not allow a touchdown this season."
Syracuse football recruiting targets had massive 2024 campaigns.
Two players who have 'Cuse offers and are on the junior All-America defensive second teams are 2026 four-star cornerback and top-65 national prospect J'Vari Flowers as well as 2026 four-star athlete and top-50 national prospect Joey O’Brien.
I recently had a column about the 6-foot, 177-pound Flowers, who played a key role as Miami Northwestern Senior High School won the Florida High School Athletic Association ("FHSAA") 3A state title. He picked up a Syracuse football offer on February 16 of last year and visited the Hill this past November.
Poff said of Flowers, "All-around playmaker made an impact on all three phases for 3A state champs."
The 6-foot-4, 185-pound O’Brien stars for La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor, Pa., which is also the program of 2026 four-star quarterback Gavin Sidwar, a fellow Orange recruiting target.
O’Brien, offered by the 'Cuse in March of 2024, made the MaxPreps junior All-America team as an all-purpose player, with Poff writing that O’Brien "Had 36 tackles, 13 pass break-ups and one interception to go with 68 receptions for 1,029 yards and 12 touchdowns on offense."
