Elijah Kimble, the Syracuse football 2027 verbal commit from Buffalo, N.Y., is Western New York's all-time rushing king. On Saturday, the four-star running back broke the record as his program, Canisius High School, defeated the Huron Heights Secondary School from Kitchener, Ontario, by a final score of 43-21.

In his team's victory, the 5-foot-10, 185-pound Kimble rushed 13 times for 263 yards and four touchdowns for Canisius, per Rivals. With that performance, Kimble has surpassed Jehuu Caulcrick as the all-time leading rusher in Western New York.

Caulcrick, who played at the Clymer Central School in Clymer, N.Y., and then at Michigan State in college, tallied 6,559 yards career yards while in high school.

Kimble verbally committed to the Orange and head coach Fran Brown over the summer. During his recruitment, Kimble earned nearly 40 scholarship offers. He took official visits to Syracuse football, North Carolina and defending national champion Indiana. Kimble has also unofficially visited SU on several occasions.

Syracuse football 2027 verbal pledge Elijah Kimble has had a sensational prep career.

Here are Kimble's prior three seasons in high school:
Freshman year in 2023: 1,821 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns
Sophomore year in 2024: 1,778 rushing yards and 32 touchdowns
Junior year in 2025: 1,726 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns

According to his bio on the MaxPreps Web site, to date in the 2026 campaign, Kimble has rushed 120 times for 1,301 yards with 16 touchdowns. Per MaxPreps, he is averaging 10.8 yards per carry and 216.8 yards per game as a senior. Both of those statistics are extremely impressive.

Last December, as a junior, Kimble captured the prestigious Connolly Cup, which is awarded annually to the top football player in Western New York. He was the first Canisius player to win that honor. Kimble is a three-time finalist for the Connolly Cup, and it would be shocking if he isn't a finalist again at the conclusion of the 2026 season.

Within the 2027 class, Kimble is No. 261 nationally per ESPN. The industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking places him at No. 344 overall, while via the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, Kimble is No. 367 nationwide.

Last month, Kimble was at the JMA Wireless Dome on a game-day visit to watch Syracuse football host California. Inside the Loud House has reported that he also plans to be on the Hill for the Orange's home contest against SMU on Saturday, Oct. 31.
