Syracuse football 4-star commit Tristin Hughes sets official visit as other suitors flock

Numerous suitors are trying to flip Syracuse football 2027 four-star verbal pledge Tristin Hughes from Ohio, who will officially visit the Orange this June.

The talented multi-positional athlete plans to take an official visit to the 'Cuse program from June 5 to June 7, a source tells me. In late January, Syracuse football assistant coaches Perry Eliano and Dre Kates conducted an in-home visit with the 6-foot-1, 190-pound Hughes.

Hughes is an elite defensive back, wide receiver and return specialist at Rocky River High School in Rocky River, Ohio, near Cleveland. He verbally committed to the Orange in September of last year, but the 'Cuse faces a ton of competition to hold onto Hughes.

Lately, other college programs, such as Purdue and Louisville, have conducted either in-home or school visits with Hughes. Some of his more recent scholarship offers have arrived from teams like Pittsburgh, UConn, Louisville, Ohio, West Virginia, Arizona State, Kentucky, Michigan State and Wisconsin, according to Hughes' X page.

Hughes had an electric 2025 campaign for Rocky River High School, which went 11-3 overall and reached the championship game of the Ohio High School Athletic Association ("OHSAA") Region 10 playoffs.

According to his X account, in 2025, Hughes tallied 1,338 receiving yards, more than 1,900 all-purpose yards, 28 total touchdowns, 67 total tackles, three interceptions, one pick-six, three pass breakups and three forced fumbles.

Within the 2027 class, Rivals has Hughes at No. 297 nationally, No. 31 at safety and No. 10 in Ohio. When I wrote this article, both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking placed him in the top 375 around the country in this cycle.

The Orange staff has eight verbal pledges to date in a 2027 class that is No. 6 overall via the 247Sports Composite. Hughes is the lone four-star commit for the 'Cuse thus far in this cycle.

Syracuse football recruiting targets who have locked in official visits to the program between late May and late June, at this juncture, include four-star offensive tackle Q'mari Hudson from Virginia, four-star running back Xavier Bala from New York, three-star tight end Michael Nnabuife from Maryland, four-star wide receiver Javien Robinson from Pennsylvania, four-star wide receiver Khalil Taylor from Pennsylvania and three-star athlete DJ Davis from Delaware.
