Georgia Tech sophomore Naithan George, who hails from Toronto and is one of the top point guards currently in the transfer portal, is receiving interest from Syracuse basketball coaches, according to multiple media reports.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound George, per 247Sports, entered the transfer portal on March 25. The current transfer portal window runs through April 22. To date this off-season, the Orange staff has secured at least two pledges via the portal.

According to a post on X from CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein, the four-star George has recently conducted Zoom calls with Syracuse basketball, North Carolina and Oklahoma.

Other programs that have reached out to George, per a post on X from 247Sports national analyst/scout Brandon Jenkins, include Arizona State, Georgia, Gonzaga, Louisville, Oklahoma State, Stanford and Texas, among others.

Syracuse basketball is displaying an interest in a stellar four-star transfer point guard.

In 2024-25, fellow Atlantic Coast Conference school Georgia Tech went 17-17 overall. Per ESPN statistics, George averaged 35.6 minutes, 12.3 points, 6.5 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.1 steals per contest while making 39.3 percent from the field, 33.9 percent from beyond the arc and 78.9 percent from the free-throw line.

When I glanced at the ACC's Web site on Friday morning, I saw that in 2024-25, George has led the conference in assists per encounter.

At the time of this writing, according to national transfer rankings from 247Sports, George arrived as four stars, No. 30 overall and No. 6 at point guard.

This past stanza, the Orange had 12 scholarship players. Five exhausted their eligibility. Five have hit the portal. Two are returning. The 'Cuse has four 2025 signees at the prep level, and the program has scored commitments from Oregon State redshirt junior guard/wing Nate Kingz and UCLA junior power forward/center William Kyle lll.

Thus, as it currently stands, Syracuse basketball has eight players on its 2025-26 roster, with seven scholarships still left to dole out. To me, positions of continued need include finding a true point guard out of the portal, at least one more center, and additional 3-point specialists out on the wing.

Per reports and comments from recruiting analysts, the Orange staff has reached out to numerous college transfers this off-season, players such as Arizona sophomore guard KJ Lewis, Monmouth redshirt sophomore forward Jaret Valencia, Florida State sophomore forward Jerry Deng, Cal State Northridge senior small forward Keonte Jones, UNLV sophomore point guard Dedan Thomas Jr., Dayton redshirt junior point guard Malachi Smith, Georgia sophomore guard Silas Demary Jr., Arkansas State junior guard Derrian Ford, Clemson freshman guard Del Jones, Robert Morris junior guard/forward Amarion Dickerson, North Dakota junior guard Treysen Eaglestaff, North Dakota State senior guard Jacari White and Drexel junior guard Kobe Magee.
