Syracuse basketball sets its season opener, plus the full non-conference schedule

Syracuse basketball will face a fellow Empire State team to kick off the Orange's 2025-26 season.

SU Athletics announced on Friday afternoon that the 'Cuse will open its upcoming campaign by hosting America East Conference member Binghamton on Monday, Nov. 3, at the JMA Wireless Dome. Prior reports had indicated that the Orange would square off with the Bearcats, although the date for this match-up wasn't publicly known.

In their all-time series together, Syracuse basketball is 5-0 against Binghamton. All five of those games have occurred on the Hill. Most recently, in December of 2013, the 'Cuse crushed the Bearcats by a final count of 93-65.

Last year, Binghamton went 15-17 overall and 7-9 in league play. Its head coach is Levell Sanders, who enters his fifth season at the helm of the program during the 2025-26 term. The Bearcats' campus is about 80 miles from Syracuse University.

In the upcoming campaign, the Orange will play 13 non-conference games and 18 Atlantic Coast Conference contests. The 'Cuse, which has missed four straight NCAA Tournaments, went 14-19 overall in 2024-25. Syracuse basketball, on paper, has a talented 2025-26 roster, including two key returnees, a five-member prep class that is in the top 15 nationally, and a six-member transfer cycle that features several four-star prospects.
