Former Syracuse basketball star guard and assistant coach Gerry McNamara will know on Monday whether he has scored a verbal pledge from 2026 four-star point guard Ryan Moesch, who is from Central New York.

The 6-foot, 170-pound Moesch will make his college decision on Monday at 3:30 pm EST via the CBS Sports College Basketball YouTube channel. According to 247Sports national analyst Brandon Jenkins, Moesch's two finalists are Siena, where McNamara is the head coach, and Big East Conference school Providence.

Hopefully, GMac will prevail for Moesch, who is from Chittenango, N.Y., which is about 20 miles from Syracuse. Moesch was a standout at Chittenango High School before transferring last season to the the Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, Mass.

Gerry McNamara's Siena is a finalist for Central New York native and 4-star PG Ryan Moesch.

At one point, the Orange staff showed some level of interest in Moesch, who is a vastly underrated prospect in the high school senior cycle. Per 247Sports and Verbal Commits, his full scholarship offer sheet includes Siena, Providence, Akron, Bowling Green, Bradley, Duquesne, Fordham, La Salle, Pepperdine, Rhode Island, Richmond, Stetson, Texas State, Towson, Iona, Colgate, George Mason, NJIT, Marist, Stonehill, Gardner–Webb, Manhattan and Le Moyne.

On the AAU circuit this spring and summer, Moesch was excellent for the 17U team of the Boston-based Middlesex Magic in the Under Armour Association ("UAA") league. In July, at the UAA's season-ending playoffs, the Middlesex Magic finished in 3rd place.

In the latest UAA campaign, Moesch averaged 11.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, 4.3 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game. The scouting experts at The Circuit named him to their All-UAA second team for the most recent Under Armour Association season.

Within the 2026 class, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite places Moesch at No. 134 overall, No. 13 at point guard and No. 4 in Massachusetts.

In a July evaluation, CBS Sports director of basketball scouting Adam Finkelstein wrote in part on the 247Sports Web site: "Moesch is undersized and not a dynamic athlete, but the southpaw separates himself with his skill and mind for the game. He has elite feel and craft. He’s a maestro making reads out of ball-screens, a creative passer off the dribble, has a ton of finishing tricks with his lay-up package at the rim, and is a much better shooter than he showed in the UAA. He’s even got some flair and style to his game when everything is clicking."

McNamara, in his first season leading Siena, guided the Saints to a 14-18 mark. In the campaign before that, 2023-24, Siena was just 4-28 overall. The Saints compete in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
