Let's get it, Syracuse basketball fans.

Boeheim's Army, the veteran The Basketball Tournament ("TBT") squad named after legendary Hall of Famer Jim Boeheim, begins its 2025 run on Saturday night in the annual 64-team, single elimination event with $1 million going to the winning group.

Syracuse is one of eight regional sites in this year's TBT, and Boeheim's Army is the No. 1 seed in this region. Our beloved boys in Orange will battle No. 8 seed Herkimer Originals beginning at 6:00 pm EST on Saturday and airing on FS1.

If you're looking to go to the game in person, it will be held at the SRC Arena on the campus of Onondaga Community College.

Boeheim's Army eyes a second TBT crown.

Boeheim's Army is one of the most accomplished units in the history of the TBT, with an all-time record in this event of 25-8. Boeheim's Army cut down the nets in 2021 and captured that $1 million grand prize.

Herkimer Originals, meanwhile, sports a 0-1 mark in this tournament. From the TBT Web site: "The Herkimer Originals are a minor league basketball team playing in the Northeast division of the ABA (American Basketball Association). The name Herkimer Originals and its logo 'originated' with the fact that Herkimer, NY was the origin of the game of basketball: Lambert Will was the inventor and drove the rules development; the first game (on Feb 7, 1891); the first rim and net (knitted by Lambert Will’s mother), and the first backboard in 1893; all from the Village of Herkimer and surrounding communities."

Syracuse, by the way, is about 70 miles from Herkimer.

Boeheim's Army has 11 players on its 2025 roster, six of whom are Orange alums, while the other five suited up at other schools in college. Here's the line-up:
•Former Bryant/St. Bonaventure guard Charles Pride
•Former Kansas point guard Frank Mason III
•Former Richmond point guard Jacob Gilyard
•Former Buffalo power forward Nick Perkins
•Former Southern Nazarene center Noah Starkey
•Former Syracuse basketball shooting guard Buddy Boeheim
•Former Syracuse basketball forward Jimmy Boeheim
•Former Syracuse basketball center Rakeem Christmas
•Former Syracuse basketball big man Chris McCullough
•Former Syracuse basketball shooting guard Malachi Richardson
•Former Syracuse basketball wing Elijah Hughes

Syracuse basketball assistant Allen Griffin is the head coach of Boeheim's Army, while former 'Cuse standout Eric Devendorf is an assistant. Jim Boeheim, the Hall of Famer, is the head coach emeritus. Businessman and philanthropist Adam Weitsman returns as Boeheim's Army's chairman, a position he also held in 2021.

Here's a great read from Syracuse.com's Donna Ditota. She interviewed Griffin, who provided a lot of insights on the Boeheim's Army roster.
