Syracuse basketball is among the college squads that have reached out to Robert Morris transfer guard/forward Amarion Dickerson, who in the 2024-25 season was named the Horizon League's defensive player of the year, according to multiple posts on X.

The transfer portal in men's basketball officially opened on March 24 and will run through April 22. So far, per various media reports, the Orange staff has made contact with a couple of college transfers, at least as far as what we know in the public domain.

One of those transfers is the 6-foot-7, 185-pound Dickerson, a junior who hails from Cleveland. In the most recent season, Robert Morris went 26-9 overall and reached the 2025 NCAA Tournament as a No. 15 seed, falling to No. 2 seed Alabama in the round of 64 by a final count of 90-81.

Per several posts on X, programs that have contacted Dickerson include the 'Cuse, Ole Miss, Southern California, Seton Hall, Kansas State, Louisville and N.C. State.

A stellar defensive player in the portal has heard from Syracuse basketball.

Per ESPN statistics, in 2024-25, Dickerson averaged 29.2 minutes, 13.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 2.3 blocks and 1.0 steals per contest, while he made 53.1 percent from the field, 27.6 percent from beyond the arc and 68.8 percent from the free-throw line.

Besides being the Horizon League's defensive player of the year, Dickerson was on the All-League second team and the conference's All-Defensive squad.

Before joining Robert Morris, Dickerson played for two seasons at Mineral Area College in Park Hills, Mo. As a prep recruit, he competed for James Ford Rhodes High School in Cleveland.

Beyond Dickerson, as I've noted in other recent columns, Syracuse basketball coaches have reached out to several other college transfers, such as North Dakota junior guard Treysen Eaglestaff, North Dakota State senior guard Jacari White and Drexel junior guard Kobe Magee.

This past term, the Orange went 14-19 overall and missed the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight season. Five of the team's 12 scholarship players in 2024-25 exhausted their eligibility.

Those entering the transfer portal include redshirt sophomore guard/wing Chance Westry, redshirt junior guard Kyle Cuffe Jr.,Β junior small forward Chris Bell and freshman guard Elijah Moore.

Junior guard J.J. Starling and freshman power forward Donnie Freeman will return in 2025-26, we learned earlier this week. The 'Cuse also has a four-member 2025 class at the high school level.
