Lucas Morillo, the New York product who holds interest from the Syracuse basketball coaching staff, continues to soar in the 2026 national rankings.
On Monday, On3 refreshed its top 150 for this class. Morillo, a four-star combo guard, moved from No. 87 overall to No. 41 around the country in his cycle. On3 also places the 6-foot-7 Morillo at No. 6 at his position and No. 1 in Massachusetts within the 2026 class.
Currently, ESPN has him as four stars and No. 64 nationally. The industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking, at the time of this writing, rated Morillo as three stars and No. 159 overall.
Amid the current AAU season, a source recently told me that the fast-rising Morillo is on the radar of Syracuse basketball coaches, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he ultimately lands a formal scholarship offer from the Orange.
Syracuse basketball 4-star recruit Lucas Morillo has skyrocketed in the 2026 national rankings.
Morillo is a standout rising senior at The Newman School in Boston. In the 2024-25 campaign, as a junior, Morillo captured numerous awards and honors as Newman went 31-9 overall and won the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council ("NEPSAC") Class AAA title.
This spring, Morillo has competed for a grassroots hoops program quite familiar to Syracuse basketball fanatics, the Albany, N.Y.-based City Rocks in Nike's EYBL league. The EYBL has conducted three spring sessions, including one last month in Memphis, Tenn., during an NCAA-permitted live period when the Orange coaching staff was in attendance.
Morillo is playing well for the City Rocks (5-6 overall) in the main 17U division, averaging 15.4 points, 7.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists per contest while making 46.4 percent from the field and 64.4 percent from the free-throw line.
Syracuse basketball fans will also want to keep an eye on Morillo's City Rocks teammate, 2026 four-star power forward and top-80 national prospect MJ Madison of Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, N.Y.
In early May, the 6-foot-9 Madison disclosed a scholarship offer from the Orange, and I've been told that he's interested in visiting Syracuse basketball at some point.
On Monday, via his X page, Morillo noted a new scholarship offer from fellow Atlantic Coast Conference school Stanford. His full offer sheet also includes schools such as VCU, UCLA, Creighton, George Washington, Georgetown, Marquette, Penn State, Illinois, Boston College, Xavier, Iowa and Washington, among others.
