As other Syracuse basketball incoming freshmen engage in summer workouts on the Hill, 2025 three-star verbal commit Tiefing Diawara is spending time this week at the famed Peach Jam.
The 6-foot-11, 240-pound center, who is originally from Mali, verbally pledged to the Orange in late May. However, Diawara has yet to officially sign with Syracuse basketball, which is why he isn't currently listed on cuse.com where the Orange's 2025-26 roster is noted.
On Tuesday, I asked a Syracuse basketball spokesperson when Diawara is expected to sign with the program. The spokesperson says that the 'Cuse can't comment on Diawara because he hasn't yet signed with the Orange. Hopefully, that occurs soon.
In any event, this spring and summer, Diawara has suited up on the AAU circuit for the 17U squad of Milwaukee-based Team Herro in Nike's EYBL league. For Team Herro, he's been playing alongside Syracuse basketball 2026 priority target Vaughn Karvala, a four-star wing/small forward who will officially visit the 'Cuse in late September.
Syracuse basketball verbal commit Tiefing Diawara is putting up solid production.
On July 13, in a 90-76 win for Team Herro over the Chicago-based Meanstreets, Diawara had 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field, along with eight rebounds.

This week, the EYBL is conducting its season-ending Peach Jam tournament in North Augusta, S.C. I had another column earlier on Tuesday about Syracuse basketball four-star and five-star targets who are among the favorites to win Peach Jam in the 17U division.
Team Herro didn't qualify for the main Peach Jam field, but it is suiting up this week at a separate event called the Peach Invitational Tournament ("PIT"). On Tuesday at the PIT, Team Herro beat Hustle Paris by a final count of 84-79. In that triumph, Diawara tallied 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line.
He also generated five rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block. You can see the remainder of Team Herro's PIT schedule this week by clicking here.
Diawara, who most recently played for the DME Academy at St. John's Northwestern in Delafield, Wis., is one of five prep commits for the Orange in its 2025 class, which is ranked No. 12 nationally by the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and No. 19 overall if you include the team's six-member transfer class this off-season.
Within the 2025 cycle, the 247Sports Composite places Diawara at No. 359 nationwide, No. 54 at center and No. 11 in Wisconsin.
For the 2025-26 term, Diawara is one of several centers on the Orange's roster, along with three-star UCLA transfer William Kyle lll and three-star Georgia Tech transfer Ibrahim Souare.
When Diawara verbally committed to the 'Cuse earlier this spring, his head coach at DME, Ben Wisniewski, said in a statement: "Tiefing is extremely talented. He’s 6’11” with a 7’2″ wingspan, moves his feet like a soccer player, and has a soft touch around the rim. It’s been a pleasure having Tiefing in our program, and we are excited to watch him continue his journey at Syracuse."
