Tyreek Chappell, a junior cornerback at Texas A&M who is in the NCAA’s transfer portal, plans to visit Syracuse football in the near future, according to a media report.

Brian Dohn, a national analyst with 247Sports, recently published an article where he reported that the 5-foot-11, 185-pound Chappell has three visits scheduled.

Dohn’s piece is a subscriber-exclusive, so I won’t be providing details here. However, multiple retweets of his story confirmed that the ‘Cuse will be one of these visits for Chappell.

Additionally, when he put out this article, Dohn published a post on his X page, where he “tagged” 247Sports reporters at Syracuse, Oregon and Georgia.

Syracuse football is expected to get a visit from Texas A&M CB transfer Tyreek Chappell.

Per 247Sports, Chappell entered the transfer portal on December 6. In the 2023 season for the Aggies, per ESPN statistics, he tallied 21 total tackles, 13 solo tackles, one interception and six passes defended.

In national transfer rankings from 247Sports, at the time of this writing, Chappell checked in as three stars, No. 138 overall and No. 12 at cornerback.

Over at Rivals, in its national transfer ratings, Chappell was placed as three stars and No. 285 nationally.

As a member of the 2021 recruiting cycle, Chappell attended Northeast High School in Philadelphia.

New Syracuse football head coach Fran Brown and new defensive coordinator Elijah Robinson, who are long-time friends, both grew up together in Camden, N.J., which is right near Philadelphia.

Additionally, Robinson is currently the interim head coach and co-defensive coordinator at Texas A&M.

While in high school, On3 was most bullish on Chappell’s 2021 player rankings, putting him at No. 127 nationwide, No. 13 at cornerback and No. 5 in Pennsylvania.

Texas A&M junior defensive lineman Fadil Diggs, who is also in the transfer portal, was part of a large contingent of prospects on the ‘Cuse campus this weekend for official visits.

The 6-foot-5, 260-pound Diggs went to Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden, which is now known as Eastside High School.

The Orange is receiving some analyst buzz on recruiting Web sites for Diggs, who entered the portal on December 6.

In national transfer rankings via 247Sports, he is No. 32 overall and No. 6 at edge.

Last Sunday, 2024 four-star wide receiver Jaylan Hornsby flipped his verbal commitment from Texas A&M to the ‘Cuse after taking an official visit to Syracuse football that weekend.

The 6-foot-3, 204-pound Hornsby is a senior at Winslow Township High School in Atco, N.J.
