Syracuse football recruiting 3-star WR Larry Miles the hardest as analyst dishes praise
By Neil Adler
Syracuse football target Larry Miles from Florida, a 2026 three-star wide receiver, has seen his offer sheet expand of late.
The 6-foot, 170-pound Miles, who received a scholarship offer from the Orange staff in late January of this year, recently earned high marks for his performance at the National College Showcase in Detroit.
Rivals.com national analyst Greg Smith was on hand at this event, and he noted that Miles was one of the camp's "true standouts."
In his write-up, Smith said that the Orange is currently recruiting Miles the hardest, while adding that following the camp, Miles secured new scholarship offers from Michigan State, Purdue, Indiana, Marshall and Western Michigan.
At the National College Showcase, Smith wrote, Miles "was excellent getting a quick release off the ball and ran crisp routes to get open all camp."
Syracuse football coaches have made Florida a key recruiting focus for the program.
Miles is a standing rising junior at West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Fla. Per a post on his X page, during the 2023 campaign as a sophomore for West Orange, he tallied 1,022 all-purpose yards and eight total touchdowns.
According to recruiting services, Miles has collected around 15 offers, with other suitors including Arkansas, Boston College, Connecticut, Iowa State, UMass, Iowa, Toledo and USF, among others.
Currently, both On3 and Rivals.com have him as a three-star prospect in the 2026 cycle, with On3 also placing Miles as the No. 108 wide receiver and the No. 87 player from Florida.
Speaking of the Sunshine State, these days, the Orange staff, led by head coach Fran Brown, is recruiting that state hard in its 2025 and 2026 classes.
For example, at this juncture, the 'Cuse has scored at least three verbal commitments in its 2026 cycle, one that is rated in the top six around the country by several recruiting services.
Two of the team's 2026 pledges hail from Florida, and they are four-star athlete/defensive back Demetres Samuel Jr. of Heritage High School in Palm Bay, Fla., and four-star linebacker/edge Izayia Williams of Tavares High School in Tavares, Fla.
For what it's worth, in an April 11 article, Rivals.com national analyst John Garcia Jr. predicted that Syracuse football would ultimately land Miles, although clearly his list of college suitors is bulking up.
Garcia did note in his piece that Miles has unofficially visited the 'Cuse, and there is talk "about a return trip this offseason." To that end, Miles said via his X page that he planned to take a visit to Syracuse football on Sunday.
