Earlier this month, Syracuse football offered a scholarship to 2024 four-star quarterback Trever Jackson from Florida, according to one of the primary recruiting services.

Per his bio on Rivals.com, the 6-foot-3, 185-pound Jackson received an offer from the Orange on January 4. Rivals.com noted that he also picked up an offer from Michigan State on January 4.

Jackson is a senior at Jones High School in Orlando, Fla. According to recruiting services, he holds more than two dozen offers from a range of high-major programs, including Pittsburgh, Ole Miss, Boston College, Houston, Illinois, Oklahoma, Penn State, Texas A&M, West Virginia, Miami and Missouri, among others.

Previously, Jackson had given a verbal commitment to Ole Miss out of the Southeastern Conference. But in late October, he said via his X page that he was de-committing from Ole Miss and reopening his recruitment.

Syracuse football has reportedly offered 2024 4-star QB Trever Jackson.

When I wrote this article on Wednesday night, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite rated Jackson as four stars, No. 348 nationally, No. 22 at quarterback and No. 48 in Florida within the 2024 cycle.

ESPN has him as four stars and No. 17 at his position. Rivals.com places Jackson as four stars and the No. 23 pro-style quarterback in this class.

It would be understandable if Orange coaches were still in search of some additional depth at quarterback ahead of the 2024 season.

Garrett Shrader was a senior in the 2023 term. Redshirt sophomore Luke MacPhail recently said that he would transfer to Utah Tech.

Carlos Del Rio-Wilson is a redshirt sophomore, while Braden Davis is a freshman.

Kyle McCord, who was a junior at Ohio State this past season, has transferred to Syracuse football for his senior campaign. McCord is rated as a four-star prospect out of the transfer portal, and he was a five-star recruit coming out of prep school.

Last month, at the start of the early signing period, 2024 three-star quarterback Jakhari Williams, a standout senior at the First Presbyterian Day School in Macon, Ga., officially signed with Syracuse football.

I’ll be curious to see how Jackson’s recruiting process continues to unfold, and whether he may end up taking an official visit to the ‘Cuse.

The traditional signing period for high school seniors, by the way, commences on February 7.
