A national recruiting analyst writes in an article that 2024 four-star quarterback Trever Jackson from Florida in recent weeks has been focused on two schools, Syracuse football and Michigan State.

The early signing period was set to end on Friday, Dec. 22. In his story, Rivals.com national analyst Adam Friedman noted that Florida has also reached out to the 6-foot-3, 185-pound Jackson.

Friedman writes of Jackson, “A signing this week is a possibility. If he doesn't put pen to paper before Friday visits in January are likely as more suitors are expected to reveal themselves.”

I took a look at Jackson’s bio on the main recruiting Web sites. He’s got more than two dozen offers from a range of high-major programs, but it’s unclear to me whether the ‘Cuse has offered a scholarship to Jackson.

Might Syracuse football be a potential destination for 4-star QB Trever Jackson?

Jackson is a senior at Jones High School in Orlando, Fla. Per recruiting services, his offer sheet includes Pittsburgh, Ole Miss, Boston College, Houston, Illinois, Oklahoma, Penn State, Texas A&M, West Virginia, Miami and Missouri, among others.

He had been verbally committed to Ole Miss out of the Southeastern Conference. On October 29, Jackson said via his X page that he was de-committing from Ole Miss and opening his recruitment back up.

Numerous recruiting Web sites rate him as four stars. When I wrote this column, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite placed Jackson at No. 347 overall, No. 22 at quarterback and No. 48 in Florida.

Rivals.com has him as the No. 23 pro-style quarterback across the country in the senior cycle, while ESPN ranks Jackson No. 17 at his position.

On Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period, the ‘Cuse landed 24 official commitments, including 18 high school seniors and six college transfers.

Among those Syracuse football pledges are 2024 three-star quarterback Jakhari Williams, who is a standout senior at the First Presbyterian Day School in Macon, Ga.

Out of the transfer portal, the Orange picked up one of the biggest commitments in the program’s recent history, as Ohio State junior quarterback Kyle McCord transferred from the Buckeyes to the ‘Cuse.

McCord was recruited by the Orange out of high school, when he was a five-star prospect who starred for the St. Joseph’s Preparatory School in Philadelphia.

In national transfer rankings this cycle, McCord is rated four stars, a top-50 overall player and a top-15 quarterback.
