Not too long ago, Syracuse football coaches hosted 2024 four-star defensive back Koy Beasley from Ohio on an official visit.

According to reports, that trip went well, and the 5-foot-10, 170-pound Beasley had positive things to say about the direction of the Orange program under new head coach Fran Brown.

Beasley, a highly rated national prospect in the senior class, verbally committed to Big Ten Conference member Purdue in June. So Brown and his staff would have had to flip him to the ‘Cuse, and it doesn’t appear that will happen.

In recent days, I’ve read some chatter on message boards that Beasley is sticking with the Boilermakers, and that was confirmed by a recruiting analyst.

The early signing period for 2024 prospects, by the way, will arrive this Wednesday, Dec. 20.

Syracuse football isn’t likely to score a commitment from 2024 four-star DB Koy Beasley.

In a recent article, recruiting analyst Charles Kang of The Juice Online wrote in part, “Syracuse hosted Koy Beasley, the Purdue commit, on an OV last weekend and made their pitch to try to flip the four-star defensive back from Ohio. A source tells me Beasley is sticking to the Boilermakers, and the Orange is officially out of contention.”

Beasley, listed as either a cornerback or a safety by the primary recruiting services, is a senior at La Salle High School in Cincinnati.

He does hold a scholarship offer from the Orange, and his full offer sheet includes Pittsburgh, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Boston College, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan State, Texas A&M, Southern California, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, and many others.

All of the main recruiting Web sites rate Beasley as a four-star, top-200 national prospect who is also a top-20 player at his position.

When I wrote this article, On3 was the most bullish on him, placing Beasley as four stars, No. 102 nationwide, No. 16 at cornerback and No. 5 in Ohio.

To date within the 2024 cycle, Brown and his assistants have landed multiple verbal commitments from prospects in the senior class, including four-star wide receiver Emanuel Ross of Red Bank Catholic High School in Red Bank, N.J., four-star running back Yasin Willis of Saint Joseph Regional High School in Montvale, N.J., three-star wide receiver Jaylan Hornsby of Winslow Township High School in Atco, N.J., and three-star defensive end/tight end Jahide Lesaine Jr. of Irvington High School in Irvington, N.J.

Brown and his assistant coaching staff have deep recruiting ties to New Jersey and throughout the Northeast region, evidenced by the recent 2024 verbal commitments to Syracuse football.
